I will start with one I just d/l and installed, Kirk Olsson's F-16 which
looks beautiful, has great features and flies well.
As to flight dynamics, as I've said before, I'm probably not really capable
of flying the real thing, so I can only guess that the "natural" feel of
this plane is a fine compromise. By comparison, I have a B-58 Hustler that
looks great but battles me during approach and landing. Maybe that's closer
to reality!
Anyway, a fine version of Kirk's F-16 is listed under "Viperden.zip" at many
websites. I think that filename is a version that comes with all components
you'll need.

Peter,
Have a look at boB's post above "Cold and Dark". That plane, the Argosy,
is IMO, a great freeware aircraft, and the sound from those four Dart
engines is just awesome.

How about the DC-9's on this site:
http://www.hilmerby.com/fs/panelv50/50panel.html
Home is: http://www.hilmerby.com/
GA and aerobatics:
Realair Cessna
Just about anything aerobatic by Long Island Classics (Aeronca L-16A,
Christensen Eagle, Bellanca Super Decathlon 8KCAB)
Airline:
Look at Opensky, iFDG and (though older) Meljet stuff.
I haven't used it much and I don't like the VC colourscheme but the
iFly 747 has a freeware FMC I believe.
Helicopters:
Head over to Hovercontrol. They have some excellent helis.

Never trust anybody who is too sophisticated to own a rubber chicken.
(2) Dave Garwood et al's Avro Anson Mk1

(3) Anything by Rick Piper..OK then if I have to choose...
Hunting/BAC Jet Provost T.Mk5 and his Viscount!!

IMHO all the above deserve to grace anyone's hangar!!

There is a recent release, Tinmouse II of the 732 which is quite
popular, if you like steam gauge-style 2d panels (no VC on this one).
There is also a Fokker 70/100 v2 that is consistently at the top of
the d/l list.

Here's a few that I can recommend:

Robert Sanderson's Hurricanes and Sea Hurricane
Lancair Legacy, with glass cockpit
Gnat TR1
Maule M.207Kirk Olsson's Mirage F1
David Copely's P-38 Lightning
Soko Galeb G2

This is nowhere near the league of add-ons you guys are describing, but I
can spend hours with this little baby. It's an FS9 version of Chuck Dome's
cheezy little Maverick personal jet.
mavjet04.zip
It's a pretty standard little thing that can land anywhere, but one little
modification makes it really fun. In the aircraft.cfg file, change the
"static thrust" value to 10500. Now it'll do Mach 1.64 without
overspeeding.
Yee haw.

Uncle Vic
And I'm still flying it. It just feels good and it's obvious they've
put a lot of time and sweat into the model. For free it's way up there
to me.

The last time I jumped into something that can be described as
`feels good´ was the Gmax Convair CV-580 that came out before
Tom Gibson updated his line of Props. Also sounded good and
handled good.. (that's `well´ dude!)
