Was doodling with the FS recorder rendering again the
other day. This is doing some hill hopping at Crevice Le Grande
in AZ.
I was using some of the Grand Canyon scenery that someone here
pointed me to. It's pretty neat. Not my best flying in the Air
Creation, but at least I didn't have a ruinification.. I was getting
some pretty good pseudo gusts in the cliffs..
I started off way up on a flat mountain top.
One note.. It's pretty big "77MB", and is a MP4 file. I'd like
to stream em, but I haven't figured out how to do it yet. :/
If a dial up or slow connection, I'd avoid unless you have time
to kill..
But it is 640 res, and I think better quality than some of
my smaller res WMV's. One thing I like about the FSRecorder
is it comes out almost perfectly smooth and fluid, no matter
what the puter is, or the density of the scenery. My video
isn't good enough to do that with FRAPS. :(
Maybe when I get a new card..

If no MP4 player, the free VLC player will run it.

Oh yea, the aural filler entertainment is Ewan Dobson.
I mixed that with the sim sound.

Nice view of the GC area, but.....

A bit of editing wouldn't hurt, a bit slower head movement, and some
fiddling with the sound effects, and you could have a pretty good video,
just saying :o)

Sweeeeet. Is that the Free for nothing, Holger Sandman Grand Canyon
textures (free from aussiex.org) Excellent. Smooth as you could ever want.
I need to get FSRecorder installed on my new system, too. You using any
other video editing software to compile or produce the final video?

Hi NM5K,

Nice one, mate!!

I feel like I've actually been there now, which is something I've always
thought about - you just saved me all the travel expenses. :-))

Looks like you included many of MikeW's video making tips?

Regards,
John Ward

If you're faced with a forced landing, fly the thing as far into the crash
as possible.

Upload to a video host and post the link. That's one way.

A pilot who doesn't have any fear probably isn't flying his plane to its
maximum.

That little craft is a helluva flyer, Vic. Amazing best angle of climb. It would truly be fun IRL. Nice vid and a great Grand Canyon adventure...you mght get arrested, however ;)

That's the main hang with using FS Recorder rendering.. It doesn't do
sound. So I have to record the sound separately. Which is a pain because
when rendering, it's not linear as far as time. So when rendering,
everything looks a tad slow motion, and the thicker the scenery, the
more it slows. So the head turns, etc, were pretty slow when I did them,
but with the final results look pretty fast. Also, being as the sound
is not linear as far as time, it makes it tricky to perfectly match the
FSX sound with the final result. So often sounds will not perfectly
fit the video as far as timing.
Anyway, doing the sound is the tricky part about using FS Recorder
rendering. But I put up with it, because the video comes out pretty
smooth.

Yep, I think that is the scenery. It's the Grand Canyon and KGCN V2
scenery. Yep, I use a few different video editors, depending on what
I'm trying to do. Sometimes I use Ulead, sometimes Cyberlink Power
Director. I use Any Video Converter for format changes. IE: that's
what I use to convert to an MP4.
I think what I'd really like to do is get enough video horsepower to use
FRAPS, and produce HD videos.. Those ones Nick does with the 737 NGX
come out great. High res, and plenty fluid. I'm picky about smoothness..
Nothing turns me off more than a choppy stuttering video, which is why
I put up with the sound recording quirks of using FS Recorder rendering.
