to make the game graphics as good, if not better than IL2 Sturmovik. As
being now a dedicated 'simmer' since last fall and purchasing no end of
add-ons and admittedly skanking some from the likes of Kazaa & Limewire for
my FS2002, I have just stuck in a borrowed IL2 Sturmovik and the graphics
kick big time After doing the admitedlly tedious training levels I was
struck by the high level of detail. My point being that M$ sell you a bare
bones program with loads of other 3rd part vendors just waiting to coin in
on their take on sim junkies. I forked out good money on VFR Scenery (East &
South East England) and it's just repeated tiling.

You could argue that IL2 is just dealing with one mapped out area. I don't
even know if it is geographically correct. Hell, FS2002 can't even do that
correctly! Somewhere out there in the ether is a patch to correctly place
Central London and attractions in their correct places. I know that it is a
lot better from a graphics angle. Lets face it, if you get a bare bones copy
of FS2002 and plan a Gatwick -> Rome, it's pretty much repeated blocky pixel
oblivion giving way to a hazy more blocky white topped mass coming up that
equates to the Alps.

Maybe M$ is trying to create a thing here for all people, maybe like its OS
and failing miserably. And while I am at it, the 737 M$ spec. varies wildly
from the Boeing spec. So, at the end of the day, I wonder who would I would
trust? I will leave that to your own imaginations.

I asked my mate how much IL2 cost? £9.99 Asda bargain bucket. Makes you
think does't it. My vote is for www.ubisoft.com

Anyway, had my say

Just reading through my post and going back to VFR Scenery and
roadtesting\hammering it to hell.

Where is Milton-Keynes? This is aerial mapping done by the Luftwaffe

There's no repeated tiling in the VFR Scenery - every tile is unique as
you would expect from photographic scenery. Are you sure it's installed
correctly?

The fix is to move the London buildings to their correct position when
using VFR Scenery. I think you'll find it on www.visualflight.co.uk .
Central London was in slightly the wrong position in the default scenery
so the buildings have to move to sit properly in VFR.

And Milton Keynes is exactly where you would expect it to be (N51 59.85'
W0 46.40'), although the far West part of the city is in the Central &
Southern England volume.

It's repeated tiling I'll have you know. Infact, yo take it one step
further, it's the same as the Northern Euro 'scenery'. How can I tell?
Certain rooves have inscruptions embossed into them. This repeats.

Been to that NAV. That's not M-K down there. Even at the optimum 5000'. That
ain't M-K. Erm, it's a village, not a London conurbation new town

Since you are just an f'n pirate who gives a toss what you think.

MS have done a fantastic job on their sim even if you do think of it as a
bare bones prog.........it's an amazing piece of software.

You even pirate a 9.99 Asda bargain.

It's twats like you that make life so difficult for others to use, let alone
back up their investments due to security measures............. Piss off
....grrrrr!

This is what Milton Keynes looks like in VFR Scenery.

It sounds like you haven't installed it properly and are just seeing the
old (default) scenery.

Make some valid points, then we can argue about them.

Mail me direct and we can arrange that pub encounter if you are in
UK.......perhaps Milton Keynes, if you can find it.

You dare to call him an "ape," and then follow up the language of a
monkey...

Only lower life forms with no intelligence resort to 'violence.'

Now go away, this is a NG for mature adults, not microcephalic midgets
with bad manners.

Ah. Thank you David.

I see I haven't got it loaded correctly either, perhaps you may have a clue
what we have done wrong.

Thanks in anticipation, and thanks anyway, now I know that it is not the
fault of the software.

Hamish.
