Decided to drive over to Long Beach today. The weather was fine..
74°F and sunny!! Found the Phillips 66 Refinery in Carson CA on the
way over there.
Anyway.. have wanted to see this place for a LONG time, and it finally
happened. Weird huh, almost as if someone is monitoring this forum and
making it happen... Naaah!! :))
Here is just a sample of the 104 (4000 x 2248) hi-res photos taken.
It's amazing to actually be here, and get to see this place. Its where
DC-9s and MD-80's were built.. yes? The DC-10 assy buildings have
all been raised (torn down.) The desolate scene is quite depressing.
I think production has come to a halt? As an old timer said at the
Watsonville Air Show in 2011.. "that's back when we used to make
things in this country!!"

more kool pic to come..

Douglas Park view from north (afternoon sun from right.) On either
side are empty lots concealed from view by chain-link fence with
woven covering. Fancy trees line the thoroughfare on either side.

Don't know about the scale. You'd need to find the size of the globe
or pedestal as a reference.
Have found some related videos, the first one describes the factory
building numbers and what airplanes were built there.
