Wow.. that's a lot of hours. How could such a thing happen? What is the
medical criteria for older pilots? How could there be so many mishaps
with these guys? Are they not expert aircraft builders?
Who is going to be the next to get killed?

"The NTSB is investigating the accident."

We'll find out what happened for sure when the Nat Trans Sanitization
Board report come out.

Not much interest in the 28 cylinder Corsair?

must see >> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iLnpCoclgxo

We recently looked over that engine:
http://www.google.com/search?as_q=Pratt+%26+Whitney+4360

and saw a video: http://vimeo.com/16117810

This beauty (or beast) was destroyed? How could Bob screw-up so bad?
with 17,000 hours of experience? What about all the guys that worked
hard to restore the AC to 'like new' condition? A big waste of time?

There's a video out there that I cannot find (damn it) where a company
in Connecticut has `aluminum deposition technology that builds up
components so they can be machined back to spec. This was used to
restore a Pratt engine, and the video is about a 'first start' of that
engine on a test stand.

It must be one of these guys:

Ahhh!! here it is.. videos imbedded!

Race plane methinks. Like you or me or anyone driving a car on the
freeway. There is probably at least one accident a minute in north
America. One party has always slipped up and made a mistake. Put that
car a couple of thousand feet in the air and the outcome is not going to
be good.

That's the problem. The machine. They fixed the cars... possible to
walk away from a 200+ mph accident on the race track. This one 400+
ground far away...

Dangerous sport and zero room for error.
