Good one, Don. Loved it.

But I couldn't figure out how to download it for repeat viewing, so I
went and found that same video on youtube and downloaded it from
there:

I loved the Wagner near the end. It just didn't last long enough to
suit me. That was my favorite part of the video.<g>

Is it usual for them to come off the autothrottle so early in the
approach?

I picked on that about 3800 feet and well before gear down
I'm normally the t'other way round.

Hi Perry,

I have DownloadHelper installed, but the wimp.com video somehow did
not let me use it i.e. there was no Download Helper icon to click on.
Whereas on the youtube video it worked fine.

Now the Germans want to get in the act after Swissair crew visits San
Francisco (Saint Francis) Lol. Wow another trip down memory lane!!

Here's a clip from the A380 video about to pass by Ocean Beach..

Did you see them fly past Moffett Field? woohoo! It would take too
long to post photos of the different view areas.

The video segments from street level on final were a NICE TOUCH !!

At the end, the captain says they're going sailing on the bay, and to
the Cliff House for dinner.

This topic really lit me up!!

Here's my windshield cam on Lobos Ave crossing 47th. Cliff House is down
the hill ~2 blocks and slightly around the bend to the left.

Here's a side-by-side location of the A380 turn from 140 to 100° near
Felt Lake and I-280. This is kool because Stanford University would be
directly out the LEFT windows.
http://home.comcast.net/~flightsim/Felt_Lake_140-100.jpg

Also kool are the two YELLOW map pins in the upper right corner. The
power line hike was up the side of the mountain opposite the quarry.
http://home.comcast.net/~flightsim/Rancho_grass.jpg

One pin is the RC field at Rancho, and the other on the hillside is the
spot where the photo "California Grass" was taken!!

Hi again Walt

After DL and install from the site, restart Firefox

(ps just in case you're using IE, it only works in Firefox),

The video was VERY well coordinated, and one would have to wonder who
could arrange for all the cameras.. aboard the AC, in the tower, on the
ramp, at street level, etc. What film production outfit? Think about
that.. could YOU stand on the ramp and take video? or access the tower?

Who would have thought to go out on Little Coyote Point (LCP) Trail and
film from there? Excellent work!!! A local "outdoor type" and aviation
enthusiast (sound familiar?) would know about the location. LCP is the
abutment point for the San Mateo Bridge.

Still looking at the 28R approach. With GE Street View one can virtually
move along the bay shore trails. Have a look at the Outer Marker gear in
the following screen cap:

http://home.comcast.net/~flightsim/OM_28R_I.jpg

It has the classic Yagis arrayed in a V-shape pointing toward zenith
which is what forms the marker "beam." A closer look....

http://home.comcast.net/~flightsim/OM_28R_III.jpg

Using GE Ruler the equipment pier is almost precisely (a contradiction?)
6 mile out from Rwys 28 threshold.

Here's what the captain would see crossing the marker and looking out
the LEFT seat.. a view of Foster City, San Mateo, the Bay Shore
Expressway and the Santa Cruz Mountains in the distance.

Large format image of what the Capt' would sees..

Tried that plugin yesterday, and it was VERY busy on many sites..
a little too aggressive so it got disabled. Later on I removed it. Maybe
will try it again some other day.
