In the last few weeks I've had a recurrence of something I saw when I
first loaded Acceleration, the scenery "wobbles" or has waves in it when
looking out of the side window and rolling the aircraft. The effect can
also be observed in spot view.

When I had it happen before I either forced Vsync in the driver control
panel on or off, I forget which. I'm now using Nvidia Inspector but no
matter what I do with Vsync, the effect is still there. Has anyone any
ideas of the cause or, more importantly, the cure?

You are correct - it is vertical tearing - your vsync settings are off.

I am not at my system but there are two settings

full screen and windowed

google force vsync and it should help.

also check this:

Have fun!

Thanks Vic - that is all useful info. I'll let you know if I solve it!

Well I've tried a later driver that I'd already d/loaded, 306.23 and
I've tried Vsync forced on, Vsync at half refresh rate with frame rate
internally locked to 30fps and Vsync Tearing set to Adaptive then frame
rate unlimited with Nvidia Inspector limiting frames to 30 but none of
this makes any difference. I've also created a new fsx.cfg file, all to
no avail.

So I'd be interested to hear any more suggestions. Vic?

Double check the spelling of the Vsync options and be sure they are in the
correct sections in the cfg file.

Thanks Vic! Once again you've shown that you're the man! I had never
before noticed that line in the cfg file and mine was set to 0. Another
FSX problem solved. Next! :-))

Vic, That ONE entry has improved my FSX performance on frame rates by probably 40%! I especially notice it on a few a/c that I had relegated to the dog classification. My RealAir Duke is now a decent model!

Thanks.

Always glad to help. There have been SO many tweaks through the years that
some can slip by the wayside. And one size does not fit all - each system is
different, so try a tweak, fly a while and see how it goes, then keep it or
delete it - repeat as necessary. LOL
