I just noticed that as I taxi over to the start of runway 32R at O'Hare
Airport, there is automobile traffic running right into and then I guess
under the taxiway. Do others see the same thing? From Google Earth it looks
like this is the Kennedy Expressway:
https://maps.google.com/maps?ll=41.981648611,-87.906671417&t=h&z=16.

What is really happening? Does the expressway dip underneath the airport or
is above? What scenery can I get that incorporates reality here?

I think I haven't added any scenery for KORD so this is the default FSX
scenery but I do have GEX for North America UTX USA installed.

Temporarily inactivate UTX and see what happens. I know it moves some
roads in default scenery.

My sim box is dead so I can't look at it, but Ohare does have taxiway
bridges which cross over the Kennedy expressway. I no longer live there,
but I still travel to ORD on occasion and it is strange indeed to drive
under a 747 or whatever holding in the line up for takeoff. Likely used for
both 27L / 27R as well as 32R.

Thank you Chuck,

Yes, pretty wild I imagine!

So I'm gathering from you and Chris that FSX has it right but just had to
put the expressway and the taxiway within the same 2-dimensional plane. Cars
then just disappear as they appear to cross the taxiway. There are a number
of three-dimension representations in FSX scenery but perhaps they don't go
in for stacked freeway intersections?

Click on the little Gold man and drag him down to the roadway. You will
switch to Street View. I see a United Airlines plane taxiing over the cars
where the road goes below the taxi way.

Drive through DFW airport sometime... there are four taxiways that
cross over the top of the road.

You haven't lived until you driven under an under pass with an A340
taxiing over your head.

OK, but what's the verdict on the FSX scenery? They couldn't make a three
dimensional construction here?

Has anybody created scenery for KORD that runs the taxiway and the
expressway NOT in the same two-dimensional plane?

The airport expressway passes beneath parallel taxiways at O'Hare.
It's very kool. I've been over the taxiways... and under. Your map link
lands very close to the parallel United terminals at the west end of the
airport. A tunnel connects the outer to the inner terminal.. with fancy
decor, lighting and moving walkways.

This is a feature at a number of airports around the world. Off the top
of my head, it can be seen at Paris Charles de Gaulle (LFPG), at London
Luton (EGGW) and I'm sure there are many others in other countries.

The interesting question is what came first the airport or the road? In
the case of Paris I think the road was there first and the airport was
built around and over it. At London Luton, the airport was there first I
believe but I might be wrong on that.
