Nice!

This morning I was at Lowe's in Dulles Town Plaza (buying ant traps)
where inbounds into 19L appear to pass over, and directly behind the
store. A United 777 was on final and it was a hot, very humid day. There
were sheets of condensation trailing from the upper wing surfaces. They
would form, stop, and as few seconds later start up again. Wow I though
.. but most of the clueless don't even bother to look up, and they
missed it completely. Sorry no photo.

My Brother-in-law lives on the approach to Heathrow ... He hates it
but I visit as often as possible !
It's great to see several aircraft stacked one behind the other with
their landing lights on coming in to land.

Interesting. Notice that the vortexes on the one jet are forming off of the ends of the flaps!

Nice!! and understand completely. We really like to watch the traffic
passing overhead, being so close to KIAD. The A380 passes almost
overhead, and the stretch Virgin Atlantic A340 is really a sight to see.
Each day a Lufthansa 747 comes in around 3:30 and heads back to
Europe a few hours later. You can look up the sched'g if interested.

Here are three examples of homes where I've lived.

See five-sided black "home" icon on the charts. Notice any trend? :))

Can't post the latest location.... TMI (too much info).

That last of the traffic signals has been removed from Rt.28, formerly
Sully Road* now Sully Highway and named after Sully Plantation. Find
"Sully Historic Site" on Google Earth directly across the "road" to the
east of Udvar-Hazy Center.

Anyway I digress.. the last remaining traffic lights were removed from
Warp Drive (Orbital Sciences Corp) and Va-28 which was also the entrance
to the Washington and OD Trail parking area facing Orbital. Relocated
1/4 mile west to Pacific Blvd, the parking area is already too small.

Rt. 28 is now a speedy six-lane expressway from I-66 in Centreville, to
Va-7 (Leesburg Pike) at the north end. Especially inconvenient were the
lights at Frying Pan Rd just 1 mile south of the airport entrance. These
damn lights (at FPR) must have annoyed countless travelers who were late
to catch an important flight.

* I remember when Rt.28 was an undivided road with dusty sidestreets.
Now it's a first-rate highway with modern overpasses. Pilots must have a
great view of the lights when on final at night. The cops are cashing in
too, catching speeders out there almost every day!

Years ago my wife and I did some baby-sitting for the relatives, and
since we were going to be there a couple days I took my bike. Did
some riding on Braddock Rd which was totally rural road back then,
and at the Loudoun County line turned into gravel. Later that
road was a "back road" to avoid 28. Last time I was there I got
mixed up a little, was expecting to a make a left off of 28 only
to find the intersection replaced with an overpass and full hwy
exchange.

At one time we were thinking of moving into Purcelville, Leesburg
"suburbs", Lovittsville area but didn't happen. I still like
that area of Loudoun. Some areas of Loudoun are way too close
to Dulles for my taste.

These days only thing that isn't built up is the Manassas
battlefield.
