So to have the fun of moving some big iron I downloaded the iFly 747-400
and was very pleased, that also the FMC is functional. Only I am missing
the navigation database so I can enter a flightplan.
I know, there is the data available from http://www.navdata.at, but
before I go and pay for the data there I wanted to find out whether
there is some source for free FMS data. The iFly uses the same data as
the PMDG products.
I does not need to be overly complete or fully realistic and up-to-date.
I will happily fly with a database, that would bring me in trouble in
real life as long as it enables me to use the FMC.
So, if anyone knows a source it would be welcome.
Regards
Matthias
P.S.: It is *not* my intention to ask someone to give me his paid
database. If there is no *really* free source I will pay for the data.

Thank's - I had not spotted that. Now, after giving write permission to
the iFly-folder in the FSX installation path it works with this data.
I will have to look at the data format - maybe I can add some more
airports of my liking (like LOWW).

I'm sorry for the inconveniences.
Thank you!
Is he? Ah, yes indeed! :-(
I looked at the files now and there is the original copyright notice
from navdata.at. This is not stated anywhere on the planepath site and
it's *not* OK. This is even the site recommended by iFly!
I think, I will go and contribute my mite to navaid.

Hmm - fine. Just the thingy about this is, that I do not have any FS9
flightplans. But at the moment I look into the format of the iFly's data
and it looks easy enough. I might try some of the flight planning
softwares free available and what format they can write and how to parse
this easily.
Thanks anyway
Matthias
