So here's the story:

My workplace is moving to another building a few blocks away and we have
spent the past week packing up everything and throwing out old stuff that
isn't worth taking with us.

Amongst the various anti-virus and other software packages was an unopened
copy of Sid Meier's Civilization. This is the first version of the game
released in 1991, still in the original shrink wrap!!!

My boss wanted to throw it out with the rest of the trash, but my coworkers
objected, wanting to hang on to it just because it's really neat to have a
14 year-old game in the original packaging. One of my coworkers suggested
that we should put it up on eBay just for fun. I liked the idea and while
I've never sold anything on eBay before I took the game home and created
this auction. I told my coworkers if I make any money on it I'll buy lunch
for the office.

This is an English copy of the game containing a DOS CD-ROM and whatever
else accompanies the game normally (instruction booklet, warranty, etc.?). I
won't open it to check because I don't want to remove the shrink wrap.

The box is is mint condition, with no damage as far as I can see. The shrink
wrap has the remnants of a sticker (probably the price tag) on the front and
a little bit of pen marking on the back (though it hasn't affected the box).

System Requirements (as listed on the box)

a.. IBM PC or compatible processor
b.. 640K RAM with 575K free
c.. DOS 3.0 or higher
d.. CD-ROM drive
e.. 3MB free hard drive space
f.. EGA graphics or better
g.. Printer to print the full manual
I'm not sure if this program will run under Windows XP or not, but if you
enjoy collecting vintage computer paraphenalia then this is a must-have!
Besides, you don't buy an unopened video game from 1991 to play, you buy it
to put on your shelf and impress all the nerds in the neighbourhood! Bid now
and move yourself up a few more rungs on the cool ladder!

Clayton

I have a copy of Civ 1 (DOS 5 1/4 floppies) sealed and two of the AD&D Gold box games the same. The story, I walked into an EB Games in the late nineties and found all 3 of these next to each other on an end rack and each one was only .99 cents! I'm a huge Civ fan and of the AD&D Gold box games (which I already had), so I bought them and left them sealed. Still have them along with a few other sealed games i've stumbled upon.
