#So, is this June 1 release date real? What about europe?
It's an artificial construct, actually. It will be out in June
sometime.

Unfortunately for all you folks in Europe, release dates on software,
usually, not always, are anywhere from 2 to 6 weeks later then they are
in the United States.
Software Etc/Babbages has it slated for a June 2nd release, and should
have it in their grubby little hands by the 3rd/4th, which means we,
those of us who pre-ordered it, will get our grubby little hands on it
by the 4th/5th. As to whether that will actually happen on schedule or
not...only time will tell, quiaff?

Sigh ... I guess that's quite true. The good side is, that we will see
postings about its quality and can rethink our decisions to buy it or not :)
(Although I'm much to much an MW fan to maybe not buy it .. bummer .. :))
You should have preorder from Chumbo.com. I got my copy today.

Well, don't hold us in suspense. You've had 24 hours to play it...how
is it?
Chumbo's WWW page shows it as being in stock, but since this is a
holiday weekend...it'd show up at the same time EB gets it...
Sigh...

I didn't get around to downloading the demo, so I don't know how close it
is to the actual game. So far I have to say it looks like the best game
this year.
Install was nice and gives you a lot of choice as to what to install and
what not to install. I don't remember the exact numbers but minimum
install is a little over 200MB and installing everything is about 600MB.
The manual is ok, not super but it does its job. There is a separate
reference with Mech stats and there is a command reference card.
Graphics look great and are very smooth on my Celeron 300a overclocked
to 450 with Voodoo3 card at 1024x768 with all graphics options on. Sound
effects are very nice, turn up the bass and the Mech footsteps will shake
the house. Weapon graphic and sound effects are much better than in MW2
and the damage is a lot closer to what it should be. Although they have
messed with the LRMs. Now they don't lock at less than 90m (I thought
minimum range on LRMs was 180m), plus they won't even EXPLODE if they hit
a target at less than 90m. So keep that in mind and don't waste those
missiles. Other than that I think the weapons and damage are handled
very well.
I haven't gotten into the campaign yet. I've been playing around with
the Mechs and weapons in Instant Action missions. So far the AI seems to
be good. Unlike MW2, the computer doesn't just run up to you and start a
circle fight. It tries to use it weapons to best advantage, if it is
mainly armed with long range weapons it tends to try and stay at long
range. Friendly AI is passable, but they are still there mainly to draw
some fire away from you.
Also I haven't noticed any bugs. I kinda liked Starsiege, but MW3 blows
it out of the water in every area. I'll probably sell my copy of
Starsiege, since there is no way I can go back to it now that I've play
MW3. So far I have to say MW3 is my pick for game of the year.

Speaking of blowing things out of the water =)
Does firing LOTS of LRMs into the water still cause a dramatic
slow-down?
It was a bug reported a LOT with the demo..
And with Lots, I'm thinking of about 100LRMs hitting at once, for
example? :-)
It has probably been fixed, but I'd like to know anyway :-)

"I haven't lost my mind,
I know exactly where I left it."
I just tried it and with my setup I didn't noticed any slowdown, so I
guess they fixed it.
And to add to my impressions of the game in my previous post, I don't
really like the new Mech Lab. I think the one in MW2 was much more
streamlined and easier to use.
It sounds like they've made this much closer to the board game, since that's
how LRM's are supposed to work, at least the Inner Sphere ones. Clan LRM's
don't have a minimum, so if they are like that it would be inaccurate.

1st Rik please try unloading LRM`s into water. The frame rate hit this
caused was the big problem with the demo
2nd. Update for us poor discriminated brits. Game are quoting 11/6
release date. When will software houses stop making us wait.

I don't have the game yet, but perhaps they tweaked Clan LRMs to a
90-meter minimum range for game balance after play-testing?
