All your segmented files (at least -- haven't tried any others) are not
downloading properly. In Netscape, they show up in the browser as
text. I've tried using both Fetch 4.0 and Interarchy to grab the
files, but I end up with something that Stuffit Expander 5.5 can't put
back together.

Thomas,
Try here:
(I believe the full archives are housed at nardo.org, while the segments
point back to pinky - I think)
Have fun,

Yeah, that's where I went to download. All the segmented-file links
point back to files in:
<ftp://pinky.wtower.com/pub/tempusirae/>
which is where I run into the problem. Click any of the links and you
get a window-full of garbage. Use Fetch 4.0 or Interarchy and you get
un-usable files (they can't be joined by Stuffit Expander 5.5).
And I can't do the one-chunk versions 'cause my connection is slow and
not always stable. I've had too many downloads fail after a few hours
and screw up somehow when trying to resume (or reside on a server that
doesn't do resumable downloads) to be very excited about getting bitten
that way again...
Are the segmented files mirrored anywhere else?

Have you tried the archives at bungie.org?

Thomas,
The files at pinky become possessed on a full moon. That's the best
exlaination I can give. I've resegmented the files from the original
installer (a couple of times), quadruple checked them, then uploaded
them. They work fine, until the next full moon. Dr. Michael K. Neylon
(who runs the server) is as mystified as me, though he may have a more
believable answer.
My solution for folks with d/l problems (since TI was released), has
been to send the troubled soul a CD I burned with everything TI on it.
My only request is that the disc is sent back in a timely manner, so I
can send it to the next troubled soul. The CD has been around the world
and back half a dozen times over. If you're interested, email me.
Sorry for the problems, but I'll do anything I can to help. As far as
other sites - I don't think anyone else has segments.
Lemme know,

I recommend sacrificing a goat.

I thought goat-sacrifice was indicated for SCSI problems?
(Note to B.B.: we're only kidding about the goat. Mostly...)

We have our own goat. He's rather lusty, so we keep him in a petting
cage - alone.

Someone please rescue me from these deeply depraved people. This treatment
is inhumane.

No, no. For SCSI problems you wave a dead chicken. (I prefer KFC, so you'll
have something to replenish your energy on after the ceremony. Any kind of
chicken that requires cooking before being eaten is, of course, useless to
a programmer.) Monitor/power supply problems require laying on of hands.

You mean chicken doesn't just grow cooked?
;-P
BTW, I took CLund's suggestion and found that TI is, indeed, mirrored
in chunks at archives.bungie.org. I also took Borzz's offer to borrow
a CD. Thanks, guys!

Chicken grow? Funny, they always seemed to stay the same size in MY
freezer...
