Bootable MAME on USB drive?

Is AdvanceCD my best option for a bootable USB drive?
Does anyone know of any different options?

Not exactly.
I once (and might have somewhere) a DOS boot floppy which would start a
menu where you can select between 3 games (Pac Man, Donkey Kong and Space
Invaders, but without sound, no samples), which then boots DOS MAME 0.33
or something, and you can play.
For USB boot I'd go with Linux and XMAME. I guess there even exists a
ready to run image somewhere including XMAME. You just need to add roms
to the USB stick and are done. Not tried myself though.

Why not just go DOS and ArcadeOS fast and a great frontend. (though
soundcard drivers could be hard to source).

If you have a pc from the 90's, vast majority have OB sound now though,
hence the issue I mention!

Well, I'd like to go with a bootable flash drive because I don't want
to have to deal with networking, OS's, reburning CD's, drive swapping,
etc. I have some oldish Dell's that I'd like to be able to just drop
the flash drive on and play. And bundle up inside cabinets,
furniture, etc.
I'm hoping to be able to yank the flash drive, and change ROM's,
reconfigure, etc. on my main laptop quickly. Especially since i'm not
planning on necessarily putting keyboards on every system. (Although,
as a side note, I've been super happy with my Logitech PS3 wireless
keyboard for my hometheater system. Sure, there's no "windows"
button, but it's got an integrated trackpad, has buttons for right and
left click on the keyboard, and works great on the lap.)

You can boot to DOS from a flash pen, I have (well it was command promt
for flashing but about the same, and if you use DOS7 you have fat32
support etc).
