I would like to use my PS1 or PS2 controller on Mame32 .79. Are all the
adapters pretty much the same or should I be getting a specific one to
use? I am using Windows XP Pro as my OS.

Thanks,
Oscar

I have a generic USB>PSX controller, it doesnt have force feedback, but
it works and it doesnt need a driver... I would say they are all the same...

Anyone happen to have a Wasaki/Radio Shack PS2 adapter? I stepped on

website that I can find on the net!

THANKS!!!

They are not all the same.

Some are missing an essential bit of voltage regulation (um... not too
good with electronics parts, capacitor, resistor, what?) and can die or
damage "things."

They define controls differently (first one I bought defined d-pad as 4
buttons).

Some will work only with actual Sony controllers, while others support
3rd-party devices (depending on chip in controller).

Which sucks IMO. The best ones are those where you can change what is
recognized as stick#1 on the fly, ie the analog thumbstick or the d-pad,
by pressing the 'analog' button.
That means you don't have to re-map the controls for analog games, you
just press the button and the left thumbstick (or the d-pad) is
instantly recognized as "Player 1 Joy 1" in MAME.

Unfortunately there's no way to know which adaptors supports this
function.
