Upright and Cocktail mode ?

Hi,

Pls anybody can explain me the difference between Upright and Cocktail
"cabinet" in some MAME games ?

AFAIK, upright and cocktail refer to how the games were originally setup to be
played at the arcades or at your pizza place.

"Upright" refers to the free-standing machine that you saw at the arcades.

"Cocktail" refers to the table-like arcade macines where two players would sit
opposite to each other. Both players would have controls. When player 2's turn
came up, the screen would "flip" and player 2 would play his turn. These
"cocktail" machines would be seen at bars and small pizza places where a
full-sized machine would take up too much room, and would double as a place to
set down drinks or eat your meal.

The cocktail tables were flat. The screen faced the ceiling and opponents
would sit on opposite sides of the table. The difference is that the screen
flips upside down for player 2.
