Press and keep pressed the secondary weopon button, the harppon will
fire and you will be given a different view of the AT-AT and your
speeder circling it, you will need to keep your nose down and turn
hard left/right to perform the circling. When you get told to release
the harpoon, release the secondary fire button.

Actually, you only have to press the secondary weapon button once. You don't
need to keep it pressed. Once the harpoon is away and attached, your ready to
bring down the AT-AT. And, when it's ready to go down, you don't have to do
anything else. No need to press the button again.

At least, that's the way it is on the PC version....

Sorry, but no. You have to press AND hold the secondary button. If
you let it go, you lose the cable and have to re-set it.

Hhhmmm....not on my version of Rogue (PC, that is). One press of the 2d weapon
button releases the harpoon. I've never had to keep it pressed down, nor have
I had to release the button in order to disengage the cable to topple the
AT-AT. I've played all the missions dozens of times and the same way. Never
had to keep the button pressed. Now, if you fly too far away from the AT-AT,
the cable will release itself and you have to fly back and re-attach it, but I
have never had to keep the button pressed in order to keep the cable attached.

Maybe it's different for the N64/PlayStation versions.......

Nope, PC version. Are you playing KB or joystick? What kind of
stick? etc...

I am flying with a Microsoft SW3D Pro.

Hi
i agree with Eric, you DONT have to hold down any keys, just press alternative
fire when you are close enough and then keep circeling around the AT-AT (think its
about 3 times) then the cable will be disconnectet and the AT-AT will GO DOWN flat
on its head !!

(PC version !)

Same here. Let go and you lose the cable. There may be something in
your stick's setup software, or else it is just a bug. Long and short
of it: If you let go and lose the cable, hold the button down next
time.

Have you tried not keeping the button pressed? Maybe it's a matter of how
close you fly to the AT-AT. I keep my turns very tight, practically right
against the AT-AT. Maybe the farther away you fly is the factor. All I know is
that I have never had to keep the button pressed. The only time the cable
comes unattached is when I fly too far away from the AT-AT.

No big deal, really. I just find it much easier to fly if I have no extra
buttons to be worrying about.

I keep my turns tight and you do need to keep the button pressed. It's
hardly a big deal, though it does make it harder for beginners to
catch on to how to take out the AT-ATs, I know I found it hard to work
out.

I will try both methods, because thus far I am completely unable to get past
level four. Could someone spare a minute to talk me through this ? Level is
called defection at Carellia, you fly in the dark to shoot down some drones,
come back into town to take out some bombers, go over to the tech centre to
clear away some more bombers, come back, picking up proton torpedos on the
way (for future levels) and tackle a couple more bombers, and one AT-AT. It
always times out before I can down the AT-AT, or I get kicked by it.

I am a grown man rapidly thinking I will have to wait till my six year old
son is old enough to get me to the next level, can anyone help?

a few suggestions:-

1) Approach the AT-AT from behind so it does blast you.
2) Have more time by taking out all those ties a lot quicker!
3) The common flaw I have seen with beginners firing at Ties is that
they fire at them and not at where they are going, hence they miss.

Martin is pretty much right here. In this level, you have to hop all over the
place and pretty quickly. His advice on the AT-AT is good for all encounters
with the AT-AT: always approach from the rear and fly low and tight when
wrapping the cable. Keeps the AT-AT from hitting you.

When trying to nail the bombers, try not to get sucked into chasing them
around the buildings. I started out doing that and wasted time because they
are faster than the speeder. Try to anticipate -where- they are going and jump
there to intercept them as they come around the building. Shaves precious
seconds off of your time and gives you a better target to hit.

This mission is a target-rich one with a serious time limit. I had to fly this
one several times before I got the hang of taking down the AT-AT. And getting
the bonus was no piece of cake, as you had to do some pretty tricky flying in
a tight area.

I don't keep press of my Alt. button and the cabe does not detach. I fly
tight is what works for me. Maybe my system is set differently?
Nevertheless, I don't need to keep the thing depress to take down the
AT-AT.
Best regards, Louis
