I thought the Tales were released as one big game, not just as a download. And
it wouldn't make much sense to me to try and capture the non-download customer
and then limit it to the online shoppers. But what do I know? I'm not a
marketing genius.

I know what you mean. As sad as it may sound, Monkey Island is *really*
important to me, especially as it led me here, which ended up having all
sorts of knock-on effects in real life as well as online. But the day I
heard "Tales" was coming, I just had a grin on my face the whole day, and
I'm really looking forward to playing them. I replayed CoMI about a year ago
and I still had a blast, so I don't think the magic has died for me.

Tales was released in episode format, and then when the season was done you
could get them all in one go or order a DVD online. No brick-and-mortar
options yet as far as I know. I would imagine that the reason for this is
that adventure games are not the moneyspinner they used to be, so Telltale
have opted to cut costs associated with distribution and etc.

I don't have the "looking forward to playing" feeling for Tales. I do have that
for Civilization V. But that's going to require a severe system upgrade.

In the nineties they predicted all brick and mortar stores would be gone by now,
even the food stores. But there's just no comparing actually touching the
product. I think I really need to hold the box before I buy it, preferably as I
grab it from a bargain bin.
I've even heard people tell they only bought something online after having seen
it in a shop. I think Telltale is doing itself a disservice this way. I don't
think that most of the people I knew back in the Amiga days even know there's a
new Monkey Island out. Unless they stumble upon it in a toy-store as they're
browsing the software corner whilst their kids are going ADD all through the store.

I played most of it with a friend. We expect to be almost through (and
unless we get stuck we expect to finish it next time we play).
I think it was very good. In a way better than MI4. The episode format
works fairly well and the puzzles were ok.
