A couple of things are worth pointing out here:

1. This is a newsgroup pertaining to the game Jedi Knight, and it's
expansion Mysteries of the Sith. I'm not sure if there is a newsgroup for
X-wing Alliance yet or not, but I do know of alt.games.x-wing. That might
be a better choice in the future.

2. On the bottom of the X-wing Alliance box, under the heading "Input
Devices" it reads "Joystick, Mouse, and Keyboard required". In the future,
I suggest you examine the system requirements of a game before you purchase
it. The RAM and cpu suggestions are usually a bit lower than what most
people would consider necessary for a decent gaming experience, but you can
probably trust them when they say you need a joystick.

Gosh, this brings back memories of playing x-wing on my 386SX-16 without a
joystick... you can't imagine what kind of pain in the butt it was to
tackle a tie using the arrow keys.

Of course, I never actually finished the game until I bought a decent
joystick, by which time I could play it on a more capable 486DX-33.

What made you think you could do it without a joystick? You'd probably make
it to the second or third mission, but barely. And forget trying to get
through the death star... and multiplayer? You'd be about as much good as
an asteroid. The only way you'd get kills is if someone crashed into you.

Oh, and for future reference, last time I checked the best place to discuss
XWA right now is on the X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter newsgroup --
alt.starwars.xvt.

Nope XWA has its own group at alt.games.x-wing.alliance where'll you
commonly see a request for help to the mission where Aeron goes to repair a
satellite. :)

Don't know why... that was an easy mission.

But my news server doesn't carry the xwa newsgroup. How long has it been
around?

I remember doing TIE Fighter with a keyboard and mouse...

Please...Save...My...Soul...

Well anyways, you do need a Joystick, no way round it...

Oh, and try a X-Wing vs TIE Fighter group next time...

A stick or a gamepad is required....

gamepads suck unless your really on top of things...
and then they still suck. Mice suck worse...

fuck off you daft wanker. alt.troll isn't some private den where you can
suck your other lamer buddies off and think no-one else will get onto it.

Nope the mission has a bug in it, Aeron will return to the ship sometimes
without finishing her job so the hyperboy never appears. The second most
popular question is probably stealing the shuttle and then the bug on the
third mission which is solved by the patch.

Since a few weeks of XWA launch, ask your news server to take it.

Oh, I think that was if you didn't do something that I always did, so I
never saw that. The stealing the shuttle thing only happened if you were
playing it on easy (since it made it hard instead), and since I was on
medium (and tried replaying on hard), never had that problem. I remember
the bug in the third mission, but when I replayed it, had no problems.

Hmm. I was on XvT while I was playing, which was for the first 2-3 months
after release, and never heard about. Dang, now I feel like playing XWA.

Might catch you around if you play on the Zone since it's XWA's WoW this
week.
