I've already cleared all the sectors in Cambria. I've gotten the hospital
the mines, and the sector in between the mines and the hospital with the
militas. I've got a 47% rating in Cambria. The problem is that Calvin won't
cooperate with me to give me funds. I've already gotten the mine in Drassen
(I think that's the town I took. Top left corner of the map) and I'm getting
about $3500/day but that's not enough to sustain Buns, Scope, Grunty, and
Barry, along with some other M.E.R.C guys. I've had the unfortunate
experience of knowing how Speck T Klien opterates when you're behind on
payments. I lost about 3-4 MERC members when he recalled them due to overdue
payments.

I've already been to the mines in Cambrria and spoke to one of the miners
and they told me to talk to the head miner. Somehow I can't get Calvin to
help me. I've tried the friendly option and the direct option a few times.
I've tried to recuit him but not working. I've threaten him before but still
no dice. However when I give him a stack of $100 deposits he seems happy
with that comment "I had this coming" but still not helping with the mine.
I'm short on funds now. I've got about $1500 and I'm looking to milita the
sector up with those funds. I don't want to lose this base for it took some
time to flush out the buildings. Oh yes, I'm using Buns as my communicator
when talking to the nurse and Calvin. I've saved the game before I spoke
with Calvin so I can always call up that save file and try something else if
someone can help out. Thanks in advance.

Top right is Drassen, top left is Chitzena. Calvin is the head miner
in Chitzena (beach resort). The head miner in Cambria is Carl (where
the hospitals are). Unless, of course, the Wildfire guy switched things
around just to mess with our heads. :-)

Do you control all six squares in Cambria? You needed to control the
entire town in the original game.

Andy,

Yes, you are correct on the location of Drassen and Chitzena. My bad. It was
late at night and I don't have two computers to check side by side.

I just checked the game right now. In the JA2: Wildfire (off the CD install)
to control Chitzena you need to take over the 2 sectors. Top sector is the
town. Lower sector is the mine. The Omerta (sp?) town is two sectors (--
side by side, left to right)). To control Cambria the town outline is 5
sectors (including the mine). I checked again and yes the guys name is
Calvin H something in Cambria. Fred is the head miner of Chitzena. I tried
many different ways to talk to Calvin (saving before doing so for sure) but
still no go. The guy keeps taking my money when I offer it to him and he
replies "I had this coming for me".

I may have to see how he responds to the o'l lead butt plug action and see
if that'll motive or get me killed. Right now I have about 47 - 50ish
loyalty in Cambria with milita in all 5 sectors.

Rob,

Hmm... good thing for the 10 game save slots then. =)

I'll just hire a few cheap mercs then and keep training the militia in
Cambria till I can't train anymore and provoke the enemy to come and attack
then re-train the militia to boost the loyalty.

Which game is better? JA2:Wildfire or hte original JA2: Gold version? My
internet time is very limited and plaged with computer software issues
making my browser not work all the time. Do you know what the original JA2
hardware runs on? I have a P-150 MMX laptop with 48 ram and I think a 2mb
video card. Not sure on the video card. Perhaps someone get the specs for
me? Thanks in advance.

The original is better, IMHO.

The system requirements for JA2 and JA2:Wildfire are equivalent. The
box for the "gold" edition says 133MHz Pentium, 32MB RAM, 1MB video card,
so you should be golden.
