In BG2, it was possibl to highlight items/doors/chests/etc by pressing tab.
Does IWD(included HOW and SOL) have a similar function?

Or how about in IWD2? After playing BG2 for so long, it is a real pain in
the butt to not be able to do it...

Yes, the Alt key in both.

Try holding down Alt.

Hi, Craig.

What kind of party are you hauling through the icy plains?

Hey Cool Hand, I have a basic party. Human Monk, Aasimar Cleric, Tiefling
Invoker, Half-Orc Fighter, Half-Elf Ranger, and an Elf Rogue. I may have
mixed up the pairings of classes and races, but that is my basic mix. It
sure takes some getting used to looking at and thinking about stats
according to the 3rd edition rules!

Ah, you're playing IWDII, right?

I'm going for IWD first (I'm a perfectionist, have to complete ALL... :-)

Since you're experienced (I guess!), what do you think about this party:

Human Paladin
Dwarven Fighter
Elven Ranger
Elven Cleric
Half-elven Mage/Thief
Human Necromance

It should be sufficient to bring me through, right?

Actually I am not that much more experienced. I have IWD and HOW, but am
more impressed with the engine of IWD2 so I am skipping those. I may go
back and play later. Your approach is pretty much the same as I took in all
the Balder's Gate episodes and in this one. It is pretty much basic, as is
the party I have. Later I may go back and be more "exotic" in my party make
up.

Yeah, well... I finished BG+TOTSC, BGII+TOB, so I should probably know what
kind of party I need. Point is, I kow my current party will function,
because it is an all-round party.

In IWD, there are no monks or orcs, so I go for the straight party. In fact,
IWD is pretty much a straightforward fantasy game. I can live with the
interface, I finished Baldurs Gate... :-) I'm contemplating getting a
multiclassed Ranger/Cleric instead of a pure ranger... I'll see how the game
develops.
