Hi all,
I am used to running a win32 HLDS at LAN parties, but in the interests of
potentially better serving/lower pinging I have switched to Redhat Linux
6.1.
I can create the server fine, it gives me the Auth message and then loads
whatever map I tell it to. I do need to specify +ip 192.168.0.109:27015
otherwise its serves on local host (127.0.0.1) which is not very useful...

My main problem is it does not appear in the game browser of the client
machines. They can all connect and play quite happily if the address is
entered manually.
my startup line is
./hlds_l -nomaster +sv_lan 1 +maxplayers 16 +ip 192.168.0.109:27015 +map
crossfire

Does anyone have any clues as to what is going on here?

thanks

Yep

I had the same problem - solution was to simply add all parameters into
config files and simply run ./hlds_l

Worked for me...

Thanks for the tip, it makes starting the server easier.
however the +IP command is what seems to make the server invisible
if i do not specify it the game appears in the browser, but is unreachable
as the server is on the local host (127.0.0.1) If i set it the server is
reachable, but invisible......
Is it possible to force linux to force the server to use the Eth0 address?
(dynamically given by a seperate DHCP machine....)

Thanks
