On the ground floor...with an HEV charger and LJM (but not the one with the
Gluon) there is a door which I cant open. I went through it with no
clipping and found 3 health packs, 5 hev packs and a crossbow.
neat huh?

Really?! I'll have to go look for it again.
While no clipping around crossifre I did find something weird tho... it
looks like a plaque with an odd design on it, embedded in the wall of the
trench with the two ladders that you climb up to get to the helipads. I
think I've seen the same thing on another MP level too (while no clipping).
It looks like it might be a signature of sorts, maybe the signature of the
level designer? Any theories?

Ok, I found it, and I found out how to open the door from the *inside*....
if you walk under the ramp leading up to the crossbow and the health/HEV
charges, a door sized section of the wall drops down for a few seconds.
I'm betting there's *SOME WAY* to open it from the outside, too... maybe a
trigger square on another part of the map (which would require two players
working together to get into the secret room.) Somebody with some Worldcraft
experience should take a look at the map and see if there's another trigger
square that opens the door. And post your findings here!

I've studied it with QuArK, but did not find any other trigger to open the
secret door, than the one which opens it from the inside.

There's not even a respawn point in here, so I think that either VALVe 'forgot'
to create an outside trigger, or just 'forgot' to remove the room before it was
released.

I also found a trigger_multiple by the 2 satchels in the bunker, which targets
'tower_buttons_ms_targ', but there no object with an targetname of it.

Guess VALVe was in a rush to get this map out.

Could you take some snapshots of this area? I'm still blanked out on where this
is... I'll be gladly to decompile Crossfire and look at how it works and then
tell if anything is good to hear...

If you imagine you're looking down on the map and the Satellite Control
bunker with the two gun emplacements is at the north end, then the secret
area is in the southwest corner, occupying a couple of levels.

One odd thing I noticed - I used 'map crossfire.bsp' to reach this level
while I had a single-player map loaded (in order to be able to use noclip)
and when I accessed the map this way, it came complete with two Barneys. Is
this normal?

I had no idea this room was there untill a couple of days ago. A friend
of mine brought his computer over and we were playing by direct cable.
He keeps his monitor set a little brighter than mine. So when I saw this
area on his monitor, the ladder was in plain sight. I felt pretty stupid
for not finding it durring the past couple of months I've been playing
multiplayer. So needless to say, my monitor is now a little brighter
than it used to be. :-) BTW, you can get to the ladder without
long-jumping. Use the little ledge to the right and you can just jump
onto the ladder.

I find it pretty helpful when you're hurt and somebody is chasing you.
Seems that most people either don't know about it, or don't check it
often. :-)

No, it's not normal. Normally there are 3 Barneys... :o)

One is in one of the bunkers, one is by the Gluon gun located near the
Satellite Control bunker, and one is in the room directly across from one of
the towers...

I doubt there's any way to get inside since someone would have
stumbled upon it during multiplayer. Someone would have been standing
there, seen the door come down, and made a post about it. Has anyone
else found the secret area in bootcamp, btw? It's up a red ladder to a
little room. The only way to reach the ladder is by long-jumping.
There's a gluon gun, and some health and hev.

Just thought I would tell some people about this secrest area in datacore,
well there are two really.....one is a small room filled with shelves, with
some snarks in there, the entrance is a little square close to the ground,
opposite the ladder to the upper medi unit (with that bit computer thing in
the middle (is that the datacore?)).

The other is in the upper medi kit room (not the one near the shotgun etc)
you need a gauss gun and luck to get up there, when you walk in, look up,
you will see some Steel girders if you jump at the right spot, you can land
on one, or by the edge, I think theres a few rockets up there, just dont
forget you crossbow :)

Hopes this is useful if not, then feck off :)

Daemon

P.S. Just in case there is anyone who doesnt know how to get RPG on
datacore.....yes I can see you at the back, pay attention......get the
gauss, charge up with your back to the RPG ledge, fire and push backwards
(seems to work better than going forwards!?!?) and there you go, oh yeah,
there is some extra ammo for gauss under the stairs above where you find it.

Well, they're obviously handy weapons testing subjects, there to provide
cannon fodder as you check out all the various goodies in the level.

That's not really a secret area. And no, I once just scaled on the edge of the
wall (you'll notice that little edgy cliff) and can just do a regular jump to
the laddar.

I got an e-mail from VALVe today:

You don't. It has been locked off because it unbalanced gameplay in that
level.
