unable to load surface prop file

Hi. I read that Nightmare House 2 is a good mod. I downloaded it. When I run
it, I get this error message:
'unable to load surface prop file "script/surface propertiesep2.txt'
(referenced by manifest 'filescripts/surfaceproperties_manifest.txt'
googled the message and lots of similar complaints regarding other
games, but I didn't see any answers - except suggestion that HL2 episode 2
needs to be loaded on the computer. I don't have episode 2 (its only $7.95
at the steam store.)
Please help. Should I purchase and load episode 2 or is there some other
solution?

Thanks Legion. I have downloaded Episode 2. Its fun already. Be a while
