How to change serial key for HL?

Hi,
Could someone tell me if it is possible to change the serial key of
Half-Life?
I have now the serial key of my cousins cd, at home I have a HL cd (no, I
don't have a illegal version of HL) but the cd is scratched so I can't
install the game from the cd.
And I have installed hl with the key of my cousins so now when we want to
play online one can play and one can't ;(
I want to change the key withour reinstalling the game.
Please help me with that.

if u have ur own cd key then u should have used it after u installed... if u
get the invalid cd key prompt u probably will eventually get the please
enter cd key screen at some point again (at least from what i remember)...
just enter your own and it should be that easy

I want to change the cd-key, I have my own cd-key but is there a possibility

The key is stored in the registry.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Valve\Half-Life\Settings
Change it there if you so wish

AFAIK, the serial numbers are burned into the CD during production, so i
dunno if there is a way to change the serial number, apart from
disassembling hl.exe, and finding it, and change it, the recompile, but i
dont recommend that, as its illegal, and hard.
