Ok.

This sucks.

Brand new engine....source has only been out a month or two in beta form.

So far I have seen two different cheats:

Speed hack....remember the old CPU overclocker in windows (basically made
everything run at crazy speeds for some reason...not er true overclocking, I
never looked into it too much).

Effect in game, zooming round the map at speeds you cant even see. Luckily
for me this particular speedhacker had an aim worse than a legless blind
dog, and as such, he died each time he did his 1000mph sprint towards me.

Wallhack...confirmed.

Probably simple in actual execution, I cant imagine the game looks any good
like this, but I have seen it with my own eyes.

Effect in game: Ability to see through solid walls / crates, giving an
obviously massive advantage.

No I have not tried or looked for these cheats, I am hardly well known but I
am massivley against cheats.

Unfortunatley I did not take demos of these cheaters (I left the server too
quickly).

I realise that people often 'think' others are cheating etc, well, I have a
fairly long history in CS (played since beta 6), I have seen these cheats in
action before. Adminning several CS servers also makes it very easy to spot
cheaters (this wallhacker was a fuckmitten, not even trying to hide it).

I am highly dissapointed these cheats are already in the game already.

How hard could it be to stop these cheats? If 14y/o (and older...) kids can
get hold of these as easily as they do (though these have not proliferated
as quickly as the old school CS cheats like OGC), by downloading them from
the web, how tough would it be for the actual game programmers to find these
sites LEAVE THEM ALONE, take the cheats, and destroy the ability for the
cheats to work in game.

This does not seem a difficult solution but I would be interested in what
steps have been and are being taken to stop these cheats in what is
otherwise a fine game.

Get some proof....

You can't just go around saying you "Saw" these cheats without any proof.

Why? Play enough and you will see for yourself.

I wouldnt say it for no reason, check my posting history etc.

But sure, next time I will demo it. At the time I wasnt in the mood to hang
around after seeing it (cheating / aimbots is what made me stop playing cs
in the first place).

But ya, speedhack and wallhack exist. I have seen no aimbot which is good
news though.

You can't go around questioning what people see either evidently.

I admin a new CS:Source server and have seen two players using speed
hacks, one of whom necessitated the complete shutdown of the server due
to the fact none of the admins could kick or ban him with rcon. He was
also changing his name to those of existing players on the server as
fast as you can snap your fingers.

I don't know if hacking is rampant with Source yet but hacks do exist
and they are in use, especially thanks to the absence of VAC: Source
altogether.

I must admit that when I first started playing source I thought that there were
loads of cheats, it turned out just to be source itself. The netcode is a joke
the hitboxes are even worse.

Having said that there are indeed, it seems, a few real cheats. I have witnessed
people being tracked through walls and then shot just before they emerge into
view.

Damn shame really, valve had an opportunity to really re-think the whole
anti-cheat system and make it work but they chose instead to continue flogging
the VAC horse.

All I am saying is that if you think someone is cheating then demo them and
post a link to the demo.

I play on a site called gamepipe.com. They have been able to detect the
use of speedgear
(http://www.download.com/Speed-Gear/3000-2121-10290541.html?tag=lst-0-1)
on their site and if I start it I are given a message "no timed
elements allowed" and kicks me off.
CS should do it like gamepipe.

Don't be so nasty Steve.

You can get a hack quite easily.

Get two of your mum's knitting needles, then stick one in each of the
smaller square holes in the plastic square on the wall where your big sister
plugs in her vibrator.

If you can keep hold of them for more than 15 minutes someone will drop the
hack off for you.
