KENNETH HITE'S "OUT OF THE BOX" JOINS THE GAMER'S REALM
Beginning on Friday, June 29, Kenneth Hite's popular and
controversial "Out of the Box" column will appear bi-weekly
on The Gamer's Realm website at http://www.gamersrealm.com.
In "Out of the Box," which debuted in the now-defunct MANIA!
webzine in February of 1997, Hite covers gaming-industry
news, reviews both new and classic games, and shamelessly
promotes his own work, such as his "Suppressed Transmission"
collections, now available from all fine game retailers,
such as The Gamer's Realm.
For four years, "Out of the Box" has reviewed well over 400
game products, reported on conventions from the American
Book Expo to GenCon to local conventions, and filled the
remaining space with up-to-the-deadline gaming news, cranky
personal opinion, expert analysis, and pawky humor in
roughly equal quantities. In "Out of the Box," Hite has also
interviewed leading game designers, publishers, and authors
from Peter Adkison to John Tynes. "And I intend to keep on
keeping on with all that at The Gamer's Realm," said Hite,
boldly shifting tone from awkward self-paraphrase to direct
quotation.
"I'm delighted that 'Out of the Box' will continue, and I'm
eager to work with a retailer like Rob, who combines stature
and longevity in the field with a commendable interest in
shaking things up." Hite elaborated.
Rob Placer, General Manager of The Gamer's Realm, said,
"Ken's direct-to-the-point writing style will be a perfect
addition to our website, and matches our own methods of
discussing game industry issues head-on. We are thrilled to
have someone of Ken's caliber and reputation working with
us."
