UK patch... or lack thereof

WHEN will the UK/Euro patch for SMAC come out? You guys are all
talking about what's going to be in version 3.0 of the game ("out
soon" I gather) but why start working on a new version 3.0 when
Firaxis haven't even completed the 2.0 patch?
I want to try and get some straight answers out of people here. YES I
could install the US exe, but that is ENTIRELY beside the point. We
bought the game here in the UK just as you guys have in the US (and
paid a damn sight more for it in terms of exchange rates given the UK
shops' insistance that Ł1=$1), surely we are entitled to the same
level of support? Or am I wrong on this?
From what I can gather, this is a far more widespread problem than
simply EA/Firaxis. Interplay have neglected their European customers,
as have Sierra. Speaking from a personal point of view, in the last
six months I've spent around Ł200 on games. I would say about half of
them have US patches, and around half of those have equivelant
"International" patches. This angers & saddens me.
So, Brian, or anyone at Firaxis, great game'n'all... but are we
talking days, weeks, months, years, or not at all for the UK/European
patch for SMAC? You can reply via email if you don't want to announce
your plans to the world, I will just be happy knowing what the score
is. As it is, I'm very sickened off with this whole industry treating
me like a 2nd class citizen simply because I was born on the "wrong"
side of the Atlantic.

Brian, how does "days" compare with "soon" or "ASAP"?
Also, do you not think it's time for you guys to stop blaming the EU,
European software retailers or anyone else and put your hands up and accept
that a mistake has been made over this? (Passing the blame between Firaxis
and EA is not going to do a lot of good either....) A lot of FUD have been
raised against us lot, and the situation has made a lot of us very, very
uneasy about buying Firaxis (or EA) products in the future.

haven´t the possibility of the known UK workaround replacing terran.exe.

Why don't you make things easier for yourself and make a 3.0 upgrade capable
of upgrading all versions of SMAC to the same version, you could distribute
this via the internet, magazine cover cd's etc.
At least if we were all running the same version we would all have the same
problems!

European patches ? I'm writing from France (where we happen to play, too).
Reading your answer, I think I understand that the european patches don't
depend on you. Perhaps we are all waiting ONLY because EA takes its time to
protect the copy of the patches ! Get patient, European Sub-citizens ! EA is
working for you !
Like many others, I decide that I will never buy again EA games (at least in
Europe, if the temptation is too hard).
