Is there a list of the random events somewhere (internet or datalinks or
the manual)? I haven't found one, and I "acquired" a city with
"Industrial Bust," but I have no idea what that is or means and I assume
that its caused by a previous random event.
Also, Is there a list of global effects somewhere? I mean like the event
that trigger increased planetary life.
Thankyou for you wisdom.

Personally, I'd like also know what the frequency of occurrences (sp?) are,
and what might be possible triggers. I had a game where several mineral
resources (the bonus ones) just petered out, leaving my cities wanting for
production. Was that because of high development, or what?

I'm wondering if some of those aren't triggered by specific
things you have or haven't done. For instance, I've had
virus outbreaks where the warning message also said that
perhaps I should build more Research Hospitals to prevent
those in the future. The Energy Market's also crashed on
me a couple of times, with the warning that I should build
Energy Banks at more of my bases. Most recently, while
playing the Hive, a blight destroyed a bunch of farms, and
the message hinted that I should be building more Biology
Labs.

There are also occasions when I do seem to get good
random events based on stuff that I have done. eg: An
outbreak of the Prometheus virus takes place, but because
I've completed the Genome project, my base gets off OK.
Or, a Biology Lab creates good bacteria giving me 1+
nutrients in every square around a particular base.

I think that the presence of any of these named base enhancements don't
affect the probability of a random event occurring. Instead, they alter
the effect of the random occurrence. Fer instance, the energy bank will
absorb an otherwise crippling power surge for a nice credit bonus, while
the research hospital (or genome project) protects v. the prometheus
virus.

Just my $.02.

Correct. First the game decides that an "energy bank event" is going
to happen in base X. Then it checks to see if the base has an energy
bank, and based on that either (a) something nice happens if you have
one (b) something bad happens if you dont.

That's good to know; thanks.
