Hi,
Is there any way to get SMAC to remember your last set of custom game rules?
It appears that I can't get it to remember that I had not checked "blind
research" even if I elect for a Quickstart game.
In the same way the game preferences always forget that las time I wanted
options like "show base grid" and the others in the list. I hope I'm going
something wrong because the alphcentauri.ini file seems to record some of
these values.

I run NT and have the usual sound problems with the 2.0 patch (and
original) - every three seconds into a sound clip it will backtrack a second
and then keep on going. There appears to be no way of stopping it, which is
a great pity. It's okay to say NT has poor sound, but it comes so close to
working! Darn it. (I aren't going to boot 98 every time I want to play this
fine game.) But everything else works so far so I am prepared to put up with
the sound.

On an aside, I recall many years ago, Brian Reynolds released CIVII. By the
time it reached Australia there had been several patches released, and Brian
was just as active answering questions as he is now. I just feel that I have
to support a guy like that. Well done!

regards,
Steve Donald.

Hi Steve,

You're probably playing at the lowest difficulty level, in which case
preferences are reset each game (so beginners can't completely screw
themselves up). If you play at a higher level your preferences will be
remembered from game to game.
