It's easy! First, the topic, section number (if applicable), then values! I
could come up with something, but I think Charon would be best suited for that,
being the longest-standing poster around here...

I just came up with a simple AGFF code, but it probably won't stick, due to the
fact that an FF code already exists. Go to:

http://www.thegia.com/andrea/tnc/ffcode.html

That has the FF code version 1.0 on it.

Okay, here's one for you. The following code can be used to easily
ascertain (or not so, for those who don't bother to memorize the
following) the status of an AGFFer. It counts in such things as how long
one has been a member of AGFF, how many posts they have made, if the
poster posts on-topic or off-topic, and many other facets of the AGFFer.
This is version 1.0N (in case someone else is doing this exact thing at
this exact moment and I'm not noticing it to distinguish it from that. If
nobody else bothers, I'll dub this official and drop the N from future
versions). Code is space deliminated.

Posting History:

This section of the AGFF Code concerns itself with the posting exploits
the AGFFer.

OP: When the AGFFer started posting. This may be in one of a few formats.

Date Format: YYYYMMDD (four digit year according to the Gregorian
calendar followed by a two digit month followed by a two digit day with no
deliminators. For example, OP:19990913 would indicate that the poster
started posting the day that a nuclear explosion blew the moon out of
earth orbit.)

Date Format Modified: AMYYYYSDD (the letters "AM" followed by a four
digit year according to the Discordian calendar illustrated in PD followed
by a digit between one and five indicating the Discordian season followed
by a two digit day. If you happened to start posting on a St. Tib's Day,
the number to use is 50.5. For example, if you started posting on the
second of March, 1970, you would put down OP:AM3136161)

Game Format: If you don't remember the date of your first post and,
like me, can't find a record, but you were brought here by a new game,
this is the format to use. Values are:

FF*(PC)(ROM)(J): where * is the number value on the FF game (omit if
it's the original) and PC is included if the game was FF7PC (scalable if
Square brings out more FF games that way) and ROM is included if you were
playing the game through an emulator without owning a copy of the original
game (so if anybody comes in for FF8 playing it on Connectix Virtual
PlayStation or Bleem from the PSX black discs, ROM is not included. J
indicates that you were playing the actual Japanese version of the game.
FFAnt: Final Fantasy Anthology brought you in.
BoF*: A Breath of Fire game. Replace * with the number or omit for
the original
DQ*(J): A Dragon Quest/Warrior game. * Handled as above. Use J only
if you are playing the actual Japanese version of the game.
SoM: Secret of Mana

Example: OP:FF3 would indicate that the person joined with the release
of US Final Fantasy 3. Note the differences between that and OP:FF3J,
OP:FF6J, OP:FF6ROM, and OP:FFAnt which indicate posts starting with the
release of Final Fantasy 3 in Japan, Final Fantasy 6 in Japan, a ROM
version of Final Fantasy 6, and Final Fantasy Anthology respectively.

Other Format: For those of you who can't or don't want to use any of
the above, use this.

PEF: Pre-Eggnog FWAK
PMW: Pre-Meower Wars
DMW: During Meower Wars
AMW: After Meower Wars
GTA: During an incident with alt.games.grand-theft-auto
RFF: Referral From Friend
RNW: Random Newsgroup Wandering
INT: From the time AGFF was created on your local server
INT*: You were the first person to ever post to AGFF

Example: OP:DMW would indicate that a person joined AGFF during the
Meower Wars.

Additional Tags. These can be appended to the end of the OP value as
appropriate.

-L: The date given is when you started lurking.

Example: OP:SoM -L indicates that you started lurking with the release
of Secret of Mana.

TP: What the poster posts. It has the following values:

OT: Poster posts on-topic concerning Final Fantasy
SW: Poster posts on-topic concerning Star Wars
HL: Poster posts on-topic concerning Highlander
LS: Poster posts on-topic concerning Sex
OJ: Poster posts on-topic concerning Orange Juice
WB: Poster posts on-topic concerning If Stone Bricks Are Better Than
Watermelons
FT: Poster posts on-topic concerning anything a newbie might think is
off-topic other than the above. Multiple TP values may be used and these
are deliminated by semicolons. A three digit percentage value may be
appended to any or all of these to indicate a best guess as to what
percent of your posts are in that category.

Example: TP:SW;LS085;WB;FT indicates someone who posts concerning Star
Wars, Sex (85% of posts), if stone bricks are better than watermelons, and
other stuff. It should be noted that percentages need not add up to 100.

TM: How many posts a poster has made approximated by the number of toilet
medals accumulated. Example: TM:0 indicates someone who has earned no
toilet medals.

1998!: This is followed by one of some values as follows:

- You were not voted as Best Poster of 1998
+ You were voted as Best Poster of 1998
++ You were voted as Best Poster of 1998 and have it in your .sig

Example: 1998!:++ indicates someone who was voted as Best Poster of
1998 and indicates that it is so in the .sig file.

Personality:

This section indicates certain personality traits.

AL: Alignment.

-----: In really bad alignment with AGFF. You find that you are
disliked by all, your modem is unstable from the bad vibes going into it
from AGFFers, and people spit after saying your name.
----: Bad alignment with AGFF. You start flamewars with other groups
which AGFF does not appreciate. You are disliked, not only in AGFF, but in
other newsgroups as well.
---: Not so good alignment with AGFF. You are an unpopular newbie.
--: Minorly bad alignment with AGFF. You never made an impression on
people and you aren't here most of the time. When you come back from being
gone and announce yourself, everybody asks, "And you are...?"
-: Iffy alignment with AGFF. You may be a newbie who has gained some
popularity with the regs, but it could easily sway toward dislike.
|: Neutral alignment. You don't post to AGFF.
+: Kinda good alignment with AGFF. Nobody has any major beefs against
you that you know of.
++: Getting to good alignment with AGFF. You're probably not a reg yet,
but you keep asking to find out when it happens.
+++: Good alignment with AGFF. You are a respectable reg of AGFF.
Chances are you post entirely off-topic.
++++: Great alignment with AGFF. You post both on and off topic and
anybody who complains about your existance is a clueless newbie who needs
to learn to lurk before talking out of place. Not everybody will agree
with what you post, but you can take that in stride without serious
flames.
+++++: Same as ++++, but you actually read every post.

Example: AL:--- would indicate someone who came to AGFF and, distraut
with what they consider to be off-topic hiding what they consider
on-topic, they proceed to flame individuals or the group as a whole. If
you cross-post these flames, you are bumped down to AL:----.

LS: Long .sig

++++++: One million or more lines in your .sig
+++++: One hundred thousand or more lines in your .sig
++++: Ten thousand or more lines in your .sig
+++: One thousand or more lines in your .sig
++: One hundred or more lines in your .sig
+: Ten or more lines in your .sig
-: Fewer than ten lines in your .sig
--: Four line .sig
---: Fewer than four lines in your .sig
----: No .sig
-----: .sigs are a waste of bandwidth and to use them is wrong.
------: I flame people for having long .sigs
-------: I flame people for having a .sig at all.

Example: LS:++ indicates someone with a .sig with at least 100 lines,
but no more than 999 lines.

TR: Troll

++: I am a troll and the regs of AGFF agree.
+: I am not a troll, but the regs of AGFF think I am.
-: I am a troll, but the regs of AGFF don't agree.
--: I am not a troll and the regs of AGFF agree.

Optional Tags:

R: Reformed Troll
O: Became a Troll after joining AGFF

Example: TR:--R indicates someone who is not a troll, AGFF regs do not
consider that someone a troll, but the person was once a troll and no
longer is.

This concludes my explaination of version 1.0N of the AGFF Code. Of
course, there are other categories which ought to be added. Some of these
I'm sure I'll figure out right after I hit Send, but if you've got a
suggestion, add it to this thread and I'll make a note for the next
version of the AGFF Code.

O_O Wow. Duly added as a subset to the AGFF Code section. I guess that
would be section 4, other posting information. We might just be able to
pull this off...
