Has anyone figured out what the Iris tresures found in the Ancient Cave are for? Please reply. Thanks

I believe that, if you collect all 10, the guy at the front of the
Ancient Cave will give you the treasures in the room behind him. I've
only gotten nine, workin' on the 10th now, so I can't say for sure.

Oh? I've heard that you get those treasures after beating the
Jaggernaut Slime on the 99th level, though it could be a false rumour.
Just out of curiosity, has anyone managed to defeat that Slime? First it
cures you, then it kills itself and says you aren't strong enough! I
find it very annoying to spend several hours getting down there and then
having it leave after that very short fight, plus there are those
unreachable treasure chests around him.
Comments, suggestions anyone?

I have heard that the way to beat the slime is to remove all of your
characters' armor, and then attack (and kill) your own characters before
the slime kills itself. I can't say for sure if this is true or not since
I've only gotten as far as level 70...

my little nephew to Disneyland, but instead I drove him to an old
burned-out warehouse. "Oh, no," I said, "Disneyland burned down."
He cried and cried, but I think that deep down, he thought it was a pretty
good joke.
I started to drive to the real Disneyland, but it was getting pretty
late."

THE definitive way to kill the slime: notice how when it runs it says
something like, "You're too weak". Well, you have to do 3000+ damage
per turn every turn, I do beleive, or it will run. It might be
higher... when you beat it, you get a statue of the slime that will go
on display with the Iris treasures. There is no tenth treasure, the
slime fills that spot up. After you beat the slime, if you go through
the dungeon again, you get the key to open the locked door. Well, it
might be the first time you go through it... I forget. BTW, level 99 is
kinda messes up like the underwater shrine, too.

I didn't get any slime statue after beating the slime, just the key to
the treasures at the top level of the cave. So am I supposed to be it
again? Oh joy, more fun dodging impossible to beat gold dragons. I
really have to wonder if they bothered to play test this part of the game.
What happens when you get all the treasures anyway? Do you get another
crappy Pearl item?

Anyway, the easy way to beat the ancient slime is to have Guy use Gade's Blade,
Maxim use a Myth Sword and have Dekar use Dekar's Blade. Just make sure you have
full IP before going down to level 99. It doesn't really matter what Selan is
equipped with since she's so wimpy. Don't waste time casting spells since none
do very much damage execpt maybe Zap when compared to regular attacks.

After finishing the Ancient Cave, the rest of the game is a cakewalk, especially
if you found some Dark Mirrors and a Fry Sword. The stuff in this cave is just
so much better than anything in the rest of the game, except for the Dragon Sword,
although I prefer the Fry Sword to it for Guy. The Sinistrals all went down in
a few rounds without ever really hurting me. I never even got enough IP to use
any attacks. Boooooring. This game also has my vote as the shortest RPG for SNES.
I can win it in about five hours (of actual game play). There's just nothing to
it once you figure out all the puzzles. The only part that's challenging is the
Ancient Cave and for something like that, Angband has a much better design, and
it's free. I thought the game would be much bigger after seeing all the cool
enemies in the Ancient Cave like Archfiends and Orky, so I bought it,
but you never see them outside of the Cave.
