hey guys,

This has probably been pointed out before, but I've been doing a little bit
of reading up on Norse mythology and a couple of the realms bear an uncanny
resemblence to cities in FF7. Take a look at this table:

http://www.angelfire.com/pa/WoundedDove/norsein.htm

I thought it was cool. :)

With an evil grin, a lone figure approached me. "A message from my master,
Seth Wilson. That is all..." the figure said, and drifted off. Will ill
tidings, I opened the letter, and read it. It said this:

Yeah, most of us have known this for some time. Nivlheim, Midgard, and Odin
are all from Norse mythology, all right.

I'd like to recommend a book that taught me a lot about Norse mythology,
it's a good read, and very informative:
Gods & Myths of Northern Europe, by H.R. Ellis Davison.

Norse mythology crops up a lot in Final Fantasy, although FF7 is the only
FF I'm aware of that borrows a couple of the actual place names. Other
Square games are also heavy on the use of Norse mythical elements (eg. Odin
and Valhalla in FFL2, the whole Mana Tree concept of the Seiken Densetsu
series, the name Yggdrasil in Xenogears, characters like Fenrir and
Sleipnir, weapons like Gungnir and Ragnarok, etc.).

My Ember of Dawn story I was implementing in JSRPG on my Webpage (and will
be implementing in the new engine I'm working on) takes place in a world
based on Norse mythology, after the Ragnarok. I think it's pretty damn
cool. :)

My all time favorite (beeing Norwegian) is the ' Midgard Zorn ', makes
no sense unless you happen to know that the ' Midgards Orm ' is a
rather important consept in Norse mythology.

Btw. Orm is just norwegian for snake :-)
