New Final Fantasy MMORPG to release in 2010. First details inside.

June 2, 2009 - Square Enix has revealed a new Final Fantasy MMORPG is
on the way. First announced during Sony's E3 2009 Media Briefing,
Final Fantasy XIV Online will have a simultaneous worldwide release in
2010.
Little is know about the title but Chocobos are confirmed for the
game.

Wait a sec... Didn't Square-Enix say they've pulled everyone in the
company off whatever other projects they were working on to finish FF XIII?
That would include its spinoffs, Versus and...whatever the other one was
(I forgot.) but now they're preparing to launch FFIV online in 2010?
Could the world (minus Japan) end up getting FFIV before FFXIII?
And no mention of a new Kingdom Hearts game? (Specifically, KH3, not
yet-another-sandwiched-between-two-games-sidestory)

It's likely that the 2010 release date is for only for Japan (and
apparently for both FFXIII and FFIV). The rest of the world will have
to wait.

If Final Fantasy XIII isn't even coming until 2010, one shouldn't
expect Kingdom Hearts any earlier than 2011.

True, but I was hoping for a teaser or something. How long as FFXIII been
teased now? Even KH2 included a teaser for the next KH game as a hidden
movie that played if you managed to complete all the quests in the game.
Even taking that 2 minute clip and re-rendering it in HD would have been
a good way to show that Square-Enix hasn't forgotten about Kingdom Hearts.

You yourself reminded about how they had to pull everyone off the
other FF games just to shore up resources for FFXIII. If they would do
that to projects that were directly related to their number 1
franchise, do you really think they'd have anyone working on KH?

I tend to agree with Doug in this instance. It looks more like they'll have
FFXIV ready for release before FFXIII. Since its not chronological, its not
as if its completely illogical.

Well, it just seems odd to me that FFXIII isn't even out the door and
they're already announcing FFXIV. Especially since they were going on
about how FFXIII is supposed to be a whole franchise that they expect to
last a decade(?!) or so.
