In FF2 i can't seem to beat the dark elf in the cave to get the earth stone.

Can anyone help me?..........

Before equipping the legend sword, make sure that you talked to that famous
*spoony bard* in Toroia. He will give you a harp. Let yourself die in front
of the dark elf, then Edward will play his song, and you will be able to
fight him with your metallic weapons.
