Actually, there are at least three other MP using weapons: Punisher,
Lightbringer (aka. Illumina) and Ragnarok. Also, the Organics (or Ogre Nix,
whichever suits you better) also uses MP to inflict critical hits. It also
likes to break, which is particularly annoying...

I wouldn't call that a problem...weapons that draw MP IIRC give you an
automatic critical hit in exchange, and that's more than a fair trade
IMO...15-30 MP is pretty much background noise when you reach that point
in the game.

Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson went on a camping trip.
After a good meal and a bottle of wine, they lay down for the
night and went to sleep. Some hours later, Holmes awoke and nudged his
faithful friend.
"Watson, look up and tell me what you see."
Watson replied, "I see millions and millions of stars."
"What does that tell you?"
Watson pondered for a minute. "Astronomically, it tells me
that there are millions of galaxies and potentially billions
of planets. Astrologically, I observe that Saturn is in Leo.
Horologically, I deduce that the time is approximately a
quarter past three. Theologically, I can see that God is all
powerful and that we are small and insignificant.
Meteorologically, I suspect that we will have a
beautiful day tomorrow. Why, what does it tell YOU?"
Holmes was silent for a minute, then spoke.
"Watson, you idiot. Some jerk has stolen our tent."

"Tomorrow, freedom disappears at 8:10 AM...
But can I mourn, knowing all along that this day would
eventually come?
The day where freedom, love, and career, are eradicated and
destroyed, money becomes a myth once again as does such
luxuries as sleep, personal life, or personal art.
All for 'Education'.
Can I mourn?
Oh, but I do. Such sadness fills me, for education steals
away the hearts of the strongest men, steals away their
will and their dreams, makes little more than painted puppets
of a system known to cause more pain and loss than career
and success.
I mourn. As I mourn for my dead grandmother, and for the
sensibilities of early man.
I mourn."

Don't you love those ads on TV for prescription drugs? First
you see all these happy people dancing and running on the beach and serving
each other Jell-O, when the announcer tells you how you've been living a lie
and it's time to admit that you suffer from hair loss and that as a direct
result of your hair loss, everyone hates you, including all the people in
this commercial, who have hired the cast of Resivior Dogs to kill you.
And then, as the happy people eat thier Jell-O and hug thier damn babies, we
learn how we can get this incredible drug that will end all hair loss and
give your pathetic excuse for an exsitence a shred of meaning once again.
And at this point we see the happy people collecting seashells, discovering
cures for cancer, single-handedly defeating entire professional basketball
teams in a game of HORSE,etc. all to distract you as the announcer says, in
as happy a way possible
that,"Roxinabletricleminoxideltaclepikachumandrexamine may cause vomiting,
impotence, spontanous combustion, diariaha so potent that the force of your
farts will propel you across rooms, cival war, the cancellation of The
Practice, your ass to collapse, any children that you may ever have to
de-evolve into vicious baboons upon contact with the Earth's atmosphere, a
career boost for Charlie Sheen, certain death for you and everyone you know,
an ABBA reunion tour, and some mild headaches. If you are ever planning to
come in contact with any other living creature ever again please do not take
this product."
And then the happy people, still giddy after saving the earth from the alien
forces, all wave at you and the announcer reminds you that they'll never
like you unless you have hair.

"In the beginning, Man created God, and in the image of Man
created He Him.
And Man gave unto God a multitude of names, that he might be
Lord over all the earth when it was suited to Man.
And on the seven millionth day Man rested and leaned heavily
upon his God and saw that it was good.
And Man formed Aqualung of the dust of the ground, and a
host of others likened unto his kind.
And these lesser men Man did cast into the void. And some were
burned; and some were put apart from their kind.
And Man became the God that he had created and with his
miracles did rule over all the earth.
But as all these things did come to pass, the Spirit that
did cause man to create his God lived on within all men; even
within Aqualung.
And man saw it not.
But for Christ's sake he'd better start looking."

Whoops. I neglected to look at exactly which portion of the game you
were at. O_o
Yeah, at that point, 15-30 would be pretty significant for little gain.
I don't see why she's doing so much less than your other characters,
though...of course, I also don't remember there being any MP-draw
weapons at that point in the game. O_o

IMO, esp. at that part of the game, 3 cure spells are worth a lot more from
Terra or Celes than 3 critical hits.

IIRC, the Ragnarok doesn't consume MP to do its critical hits, which is one
of the reasons I was particularly reluctant to trade it for the Illumina...

You find a couple of Rune Edges in the three scenarios. One in Locke's
scenario, somewhere in the basement after getting Celes. The other can be
found in the Moogle's area in Narshe if you wander around with Edgar, Terra,
and Banon.
At the Narshe battle with Kefka, Terra and Celes are the only ones that
suffer from this, but one you start equipping Espers on people, all the
sword-slingers will lose MP when they attack. I think I sometimes put a Rune
Edge on Edgar until I get to Zozo, unless there's a better weapon already.
And there probably is.
Something I've found out, equip someone with one of the MP-draining weapons
and an Offering, and they don't do critical hits, thus no MP loss. Does
Ragnarok still randomly cast flare with the Offering Relic? I've seen the
Scimitar slice someone with the Offering.

You just stated the reason why you don't need to worry about MP
absorbers at that point. ;)
Personally I love those weapons...particularly Illumina. I think I can
live with 255 attack power + automatic critical hit, yessiree...
(I'm cheap with Ethers, too...actually I'm cheap with pretty much any
expendable item. I save as much cash as I can get away with to spend on
weapons/armor/ect.)

I'm like that, too, actually. The only FF game I've ever bothered to buy a
lot of items in is FF8, and that's because I have to if I want to refine them
into items I can't win in battle. Aspil was the biggest mistake they added
into FF6, that's for sure. If they'd made it something like 25% drain of
MP from your opponent, THEN it wouldn't be so unfair, but that spell makes
the game way too easy...

See what I mean? It's too unfair a spell, the way it's set up.
That would be "Osmose" in "FF3" right?

If it is Osmose, I use it a whole lot too. o.o Cast Cure 3; ~900 MP left;
cast Osmose.
— 999 Max MP is pretty crazy enough anyway. x.x;
Well...I wouldn't say THAT. I mean, I don't think the items they had in that
game were very good. I'm so glad that they added Aspel/Osmose (I haven't
played FF6j, but I've played FFT!..I think they call it Aspel in that game..)
in there. Then, you wouldn't have to rely on those stupid Tinctures & Ethers.
Besides of which, those tinctures & tents were too expensive and the ethers
were too rare. Aspel was a GODSEND...like Sheky's opinion on Dolphin ::hee
hee::...*ahem* you never had to spend time & money on MP-restoring items again.
That game needed it.
I think FF7 had an aspel-esque attack in it. It was a Enemy Skill. It only
drained 100 MP per turn, though.
Tactics had that spell, too, as I've said before, BUT it couldn't drain CRAP
half the time! Ick! I just stuck with ethers and Chakra most of the
time...that or reviving the magic-users 'cause by the Chapter 4 period, they
start DYING so easily 'cause of the tough-ass monsters. Argh! Oh,
well...thank goodness for Orlandu. I miss that game...never really owned it.
I still have the file with my super Trident and that kick-ass Chaos Blade.

1. Turn your spell casters into Calculators, have them learn all the
commands (you know, 3, 4, 5, prime number, level, height, CT and exp).
2. Then have them learn all the spells they can use with math skill
(from the Priest, Wizard, Oracle and another thing I don't remember).
3. Turn them to wizards (highest magic attack), put on math skill, use
a faith staff and wear some magic-attack increasing items (I like 108
beads, myself).

Well it depended on the attacker and defenders faiths, and how many MP
the target had. You got better results on all spells if you had someone
calculate Pray Faith on the entire field (well, don't do that on enemy
spellcasters :P)
There were a couple of other ways to get MP in FFT. Absorb Used MP was
surprisingly effective (Oracle reaction ability IIRC). You could have
your absorbing character cast a spell on the party and then have a 2nd
magic-user cast a spell, and if the skill worked right, you got 100% of
the mana the second mage's spell used. A Haste2 for instance, could
nearly refresh a priest after casting Protect & Shell. :)
