Man, that's shitty. That much for a 48 in. buster sword. That's just not
worth it. Even for the 18 in. it's $50 friggin' dollars. I can have a full
size, Spanish steel Buster Sword made for about $120.00 by the blacksmith
that serves my sword fighting league. He already made one guy a replica of
Siegfreid's sword in Soul Caliber (the one that looks like Cloud's
Hard-edge). Spanish steel at that, which means it's actually conceivable to
use the thing. I hate, hate, hate American steel, it's 3 times heavier than
Spanish.

well if you read on there's also a four foot blade model, which would be far
more fun

Way cool, but not long enough... Cloud's sword is much longer... It's
almost as long as Cloud himself, dammit!

Well, on my T.V., Cloud is only about 3-4 inches tall. You
must have a mighty big screen.

Because someone who can dual-wield two katanas and know how to use them
effectively is a damned scary person.

You'd have a bit of trouble finding a mithril sword. See, mithril isn't
a style, it's a metal, and it's not real. Come to think of it, you'd
have trouble finding any of them, but you could make a sword that looked
like Ultima Weapon, and replicas of the others.

There's something I've always been wondering about, did Tolkien "invent"
Mithril when he wrote LOTR, or is it some old-legend-dragon-treasure metal?

You can get a "real working" replica gunblade as well. It's Squall's
Revolver, but I don't know where you can get one or how much it costs...

So was there any point in telling you this... Oh well here is a picture...

I'm not sure, but The Hobbit is the earliest source I've ever heard of
mithril from.

In The Hobbit, doesn't it just say that it is an armor of "a valuable
mineral", rather than stating that it is mithril? I might be wrong though.

No, I'm pretty sure it says it's mithril. I think it even says what it's
an alloy of too...

I prefer the Katana ans Wakazashi(sp?) myself. On the one
hand, one has a shorter blade, but in an extended duel, those swords
are NOT light. Always worked for me to have a lighter weapon in my off
hand.

Okay, my mistake then.

Man, I'm looking forward to those LOTR movies! The first one's supposed to
be done in 2001 (a few moths after the FF movie). The next two will follow
shortly after. I hope they do better with these than they did with that old
animated movie from the late seventies. Have you seen that?

I have seen it, but it was looong time ago, I can't really remember much
about it.

Maybe, but I prefer to block with offhand then swipe forwards as they
recover. When you're blocking a longsword, you like to have something that
you know is long enough to provide a fair margin of error.
