Hey, why not? So, is she? I mean, if you think about it, there seems to be
an awful lot of stuff relying on her. She's got the White Materia, which can
call forth Holy (an attack spell, not what you'd expect would be required to
save the world). She claims to be the last surviving member of an ancient
species, and hears voices in her head telling her what to do. She tries to
lead the party to the Promised Land with the Black Materia. What were her
REAL motives? Maybe she was trying to destroy the Planet, and Sephiroth saw
this as unfriendly competition. Any thoughts?

Interesting....so maybe she really DID fool eveybody with her inocent smile
and said that Sephiroth was the bad guy. And poor him had to take all the
shit...or maybe that´s why he was created at the first place...to kill
Aerith. And that´s why the Turks was after her in the first place. to take
her in and then destroy her...forever..well, you can go on like this
forever....=)

Who's to say that Holy saved the planet? It didn't, remember? The
Lifestream saved the planet, and staved off BOTH Holy and Meteor. Red XIII
said something to the effect of "Meteor's still coming in, while Holy's
having an opposite effect." That could be interpreted as Holy actually
aiding Meteor, not hindering it.

Thanks to the great translation job I had a hard time distinguishing
Aeris from the Midgar Zolom.

true, maybe aeris and sephiroth were in it together... and the bastard
double-crossed her so he could become one with the planet... (instead
of them both becoming two with the planet, since he would only have
50% of the stock options on "planet") they WERE both using unique
materia... both the most powerful attack spells... damn... can't trust

Ancient=old, and isn't the big message that almost every rpg tries to
deliver 'old people are evil' ? Why else would they all have a bunch
of early teens running around trying to save the world....

Yes, and angst-filled teens at that. They are miserable because of
childhood trauma... caused by people who were OLDer than them... Yes,
Square must be trying to manipulate our minds into murdering our
grandmothers and grandfathers...

At the end of the game she manipulates lifestream to destroy humanity.
We all know about her and Red XIII, so that's why he was left alive...
Also, she achieved her objective of becoming one with the Planet. Don't
you see? In FF7 the bad guy (or girl) wins for once!

She's cute, she's [ummm.....], she's annoyingly cute, umm.... hmmm, sexy?

Honestly though, I've never thought of her being evil.

I'm sure their rolls are undisturbed. Their roles, on the other hand, aren't
necessarily fixed. I'm most certainly not smoking anything, I'm wondering if
Aerith might have actually had intentions not entirely altruistic (as they
certainly seemed). Besides, haven't people been complaining for years that
characters should break OUT of their roles and be something else? Seems a bit
hypocritical, going and saying that we should leave those roles untouched...

She ACTED nice... but who are you to tell it if she WAS in fact nice?
Did you know her personally, or read her mind for that matter? She was
a great actress, I tell you!

Off writing fanfics, most likely. Or slacking off playing Xenogears for the

Hello from 2019.

I made a discovery recently which brought me to some supositions about Aerith's real motives:

http://www.ff7keikoku.com

https://www.finalfantasyforums.net/threads/greek-letters-at-the-gold-saucer.65031/page-2
(post 24 gives the most recent state of my theory)

(see from post #24)

I thought this might interest you !
