FFT: How come Hamedo/HP Restore never works? I've let enemies use physical
attacks on me over and over again, but I can never get my character to use
Hamedo. Do I have to be a Monk? Also, I keep getting critical status, but I
never use HP Restore, how come?

I found that the best counter, by far, is Auto Potion, since it works about
75% of the time I take dmg.

I don't know about HP Restore, but Hamedo only works if you're being
attacked by weapons. Since monsters use their claws or other appendages to
attack, Hamedo is useless.

Reaction abilities work in proportion to a character's Brave level. The
higher the Brave, the more likely the reaction ability will be effective.

It all works on based on the individual skills' success percentage or
something, so you just haven't gotten the lucky roll of the dice, so to
speak...

I seldom use these, since the odds of it working are far from consistent
enough.

Hell no! Blade Grasp rocks, especially when you have 97 Brave. C'mon, a
counter that works 97% of the time? Sweet....

That's probably true, but it says physical attack, not weapon attack in the
description, which confuses me. That would mean Hamedo really sucks,
because you hardly fight guys who use melee weapon attacks.

Wow!! That's cool. I never knew that. Are you sure this is true? Is it a
percentage thing? So 70 Brave has a 70% chance of working?

Is there some way to get 97 Brave in Chpt 3 or before?

Well, I had my first mediator by the time I reached Wiegraf during chapter
1. Mediators can permanently increase/decrease a character's brave
level...

Moreover, Blade Grasp stops _any_ physical attack, unlike Weapon Guard.
Yes, it is strange to watch a character with Blade Grasp catch arrows or
bullets, or even monster attacks.

I'd like to see someone catch a speeding bullet in real life. <8*)

Yeah, that's why it's so cool... the only major danger is from magic,
or some attacks (Spin Punches, for example).

I've tried that before... believe me, it's not something you want to
try more than once.

Say, have you ever wondered what the FFT storyline characters
say if you try removing them?

"You mean, you don't need 'T.G. Cid's power?" - Orlandu

"I said I'm on your side. Is that what you really want?" - Agrias

"Are you serious? I thought we'd be good friends." - Mustadio

"You're saying I should go back to hunting, eh?" - Beowulf

"Alone again...and this time I thought I finally found it." - Reis

"I'm sorry you misunderstood. Won't you forgive me?" - Meliadoul

"I haven't repaid you for saving me. Can I do something?" - Rafa

"You've done a lot for me. Can't you let me help you?" - Malak

"There ain't no gettin' offa this train we're on." - Cloud

"If you're going, so am I. We're buddies, right?" - Delita

"I won't leave until I repay you. That's my way." - Algus

Yes, it's true. (Another reason I spend HOURS getting all my guys up to
97 Brave, the highest possible brave if you were made with a brave less
than it. Heck, once Rafa's done stealing everything from the deep
dungeon, she's going to get 97 Brave too.)

Yep. Another nifty little thing: Whenever you rais your Brave in battle
your Brave goes up permanently by 1 point. The opposite is also true.
Same for Faith. It's cool going around w/ 97 Brave & Blade Grasp as
your reaction ability; any physical attack other than a bow/crossbow
has a maximum 3% chance of working. (97, BTW, is the maximum. You CAN
go up to 100, but it goes back down to 97 after the fight)

This is right in a way, but to be more precise, I found out that Your Brave
Level goes up by 1/4th of what you raised it in battle...

I.E. someone has a 60 brave level and you raise it up to 100 during a
battle... You raised it by 40 so at the end of the battle, it will be
raised by 1/4 of 40 which is 10... And it will be 70...

Another nifty little thing...Blade Grasp works equally well against
any kind of arrow attack...
