He's dead. In addition, both Zack and Cloud were never given a
number. On top of that, Zack exhibited no reaction to either Mako
Radiation or Jenova Cells. Zack, therefore, cannot be under Sephiroth's
influence, and is not a clone. Shinra's own reports mark him as dead and
Cloud as missing.
Cloud, on the other hand, *did* exhibit a reaction to Jenova Cells. And
we all saw where that got him.

be nice and give you the scoop.
If you go back to the basement of the Shinra Mansion after the
Cloud/Tifa/Lifestream ordeal, you'll be treated to a hidden FMV of Cloud and
Zack's travels together. I won't tell you what happened, though. It's better
if you find out for yourself. I'm just pointing in the right direction.

sector 7 slums in the pipe near aeris' home is this very sick guy that have
number "2" in his arm and aeris asks you that "Can you help this guy".
Number "2" is the number of Zack and number "1" is Sephirots so that guy in
the pipe should be Zack. Zack's parents are in that wood town after
coldsaucer and they say something about Zack wrote his last letter to them
in Midgar

In that secret video, Zack was shot dead outside of Midgar. That's how
Cloud got his sword, remember? Zack doesn't have a number because he
escaped with Cloud before Hojo completed his experiment on those two.

Aeris went out with Zack. She would recognize him, or at least use proper
grammar to talk about him. The guy in the pipe is not Zack, and Zack has no
number.

That was an entirely different time, when he was at Midgar with SOLDIER.
Probably before being dispatched to Nibelheim, where, after the Sephiroth
incident, Hojo grabbed up both him and Cloud for those JENOVA experiments.
