What armour can anyone recommend my lvl12 druid starts to look for.
Currently equipped with patchwork, leather apron and RTS. Only have 45pp or
so in the bank so far.

Well, a Lockjaw tunic is probably the best torso
armor you'll see for a while, and they run around
20-25pp now (depending on server) and I've seen
them for as low as 12pp.
For other armor your going to be wearing Leather
for a while, though you may want to look into some
Bear hide armor from Chandra Miller in Qeynos
Hills.
If you have any money left over, you might want to
look into some more eldritch armor like a Blackened
Medallion (+3 Wis, +3 Int) which I bought for 10pp...
and maybe a Polished Bone Bracelet (+3 Wis, +3 Int)
though I have no idea what they go for, I got both of mine
myself.

You could start watching the auc channel for a Lockjaw Hide Vest.
Which is a tunic with Ac 12 and +5 to Stamina. Average price about 30pp.

For non-magical starters, replace all your patchwork with leather, or
if possible find someone practicing their tailoring and try to buy
reinforced (note - the studded items are all same AC as leather,
except the cap which is better). Reinforced is the best non-magical
armor your druid can wear.

For magical items, look for the Lockjaw vest as others have mentioned.
Best is to go to the Oasis of Marr and auction that you want one.
Offer 25 plat - someone ought to be willing to part for that price.

Also, look for snakeskin armor (mask, tunic, gloves) from Splitpaw.
Some handy plusses.

Lokari answered your question, here's just a note:

Rawhide has the same AC as leather, but weighs more. It's certainly better
than patchwork, but you'll want to trade the RH to either leather or
something magical by 17 or so. At level 21, I'm doing everything I can to
lower my base weight so that I can continue looting. <g>

I'm still all in leather with a couple pieces of lizardscale or snakeskin
(gifts). My jewelry is wisdom based. Pretty soon I'll be working on more
STR items and upgrading wisdom.

At level 12 you'll be well off to have mostly leather (vendors only,
preferably in Kaladim or RV if you can wear small, as far as I know). That
lockjaw tunic does sound awfully nice, though...I think I'm going shopping
soon.

Amen brudder!

After playing a buff little warrior as my first character, and being
able to carry just about anything I wanted, weight control on my wimpy
little druid is a big issue. I've managed to keep 40 pounds available
for playing loot whore.

he he he .... My Barbarian Warrior with 127 in strenght have big problems
with weight ... I have now reduced my base weight to around 110 to 117 ....
this leaves me room for about 10 to 17 pounds of loot ... OUCH ! I'll be a
happy little warrior once I get something better (and lighter) armor than my
medium bronze - Oh well, good items weighs a ton !

A little question about the Lockjaw Tunic...
Does it show when worn? I know that there are a surprising number
of expensive armor pieces that don't show when worn, I hope this
isn't one of them.

It looks exactly like leather.

Use a large sewing kit as backpack. It is only 0.4wt, compare with 3wt
backpack, and hold even halbert. Just be careful to not press combine
button. Carry 3 of them will save you 11wt for the loot.

Doh!! Don't post stuff like that! You'll only get it nerfed!
(They'll probably remove the "Done" button)
