There is actually a lot you can do with fishing.
Requirements for Fishing: Fishing Pole (in main melee slot) and Bait of
some
kind. Click on your Abilities Tab and select Fishing.
Now for the cool stuff (If you like to fish)... What you catch is all
dependent on your skill level and what zone you are in. The best zone
is
Lake of Ill Omen. You can catch different pounds of fish and even
different
sizes. Since a stack of bait only costs around 6 -8 sp you are catching

food that can be eaten. If you ask me that's cheap food for just about
five
minutes of time.

Also, Not a lot of people do it but you can also make your own lures:
You
need to buy a tackle box (four container, tiny), you can only buy it at
a
vender in Feerott or in Ocean of Tears (Brother Island), this is also
where
you can buy hooks (Circular, Dry, and Treble Hooks). Combine a hook,
some
silk thread and a type of wing with the final ingredient and then you
have
your own bait! They just made it so that you get a bonus using your own

lures. Here are some recipes:
---
Busy Bee Circular Fly (Bixie Wing/Silk Thread/Circular Hook)
Busy Bee Dry Fly (Bixie Wing/Silk Thread/Dry Hook)
Busy Bee Treble Fly (Bixie Wing/Silk Thread/Treble Hook)
---
Night Swooper Circular Fly (Bat Fur/Silk Thread/Circular Hook)
Night Swooper Dry Fly (Bat Fur/Silk Thread/Dry Hook)
Night Swooper Treble Fly (Bat Fur/Silk Thread/Treble Hook)
---
Purple Trickster Circular Fly (Pixie Wing/Silk Thread/Circular Hook)
Purple Trickster Dry Fly (Pixie Wing/Silk Thread/Dry Hook)

Fly tying sounds interesting - but I have a question.
If you catch a fish using regular bait, you use 1 bait. Do you use up the
flys in the same manner
or do they last longer (forever?)?

The fishing village in the West Karanas also sells the tackle box, according to
eqtraders. I need to pick one up, and that's probably where I'll get it.

Further notes on fishing. You can fish while meditating; gives you
something to do while waiting for the blue bar to go up. Also, if you
are a Baker, fish is needed for several recipes, and catching your own
is cheaper than buying it (although a lot slower). A fishing party is
handy ; have several friends catch fish while you make fish fillets or
fish rolls, then you share out the baked goods to all fishermen
involved.
