My barbarian shaman in Halas would like to become a smith. But I cant
find anywhere to buy ore. Does anyone know of a place to buy ore
there? I may have to switch to pottery, I found that shop. I can be
famous as the barbarian with a flowerpot for a helmet... hmmm.. :)

There's no ore on that whole side of Norrath. There's some in Ak'non over
on the east most continent, and I've heard about some being on the way to
Freeport and maybe some in Freeport also. But the bulk of it is on a
different continent.

Most of the smithing materials are not available in the Halas/Qeynos
area. You will need to trek to Freeport to study smithing.
