So what would you do. If he would have just asked for them back I would
have given them to him. But he was rude and ignorant to me and then he
threatened me. Now I am known for not approving of twinking, but I am not
going to stand in the way of someone doing it, except for to speak up
against it. If thats how he wants to play, fine. I kept his gear because
he was a very unfriendly and rude person. As you can see he was also rue to
Nerin. So what would you have done in a similar case?
Thanks,

<snip>
I think everyone in the zone answered this for you... He dropped it and
left it alone, he lost it. I don't pick anything up off the ground if there
is someone standing next to it, but if it's alone it's fair game. If he was
nice I would have gave it back also, but since he opened up with rudeness
he's screwed. A non-asshole would have politely asked for it back, then
only resorted to rudeness if the picker-upper was rude first. But since he
opened with rudeness he showed his true colors and doesn't diserve kindness
in return for his actions. Threats don't work well in getting what you want
unless you have some power to back them up. He doesn't have the power to
kill you without getting himself banned for it.
Thing is, you have no obligation to return the items, whether he was rude or
not. Personally, had the guy not been rude, I would have returned the items
immediately but with his attitude, I also may be inclined to keep them.
Nobody likes rude people who have their own interpretation of others
actions.
What you have here dear is a "moral dilemma" and a personal decision...dont
think there are any "rules" that govern this..other than harassment.
However, if it is kept in RP, then you probably wont have a "harassment"
complaint, but it sounds like this guy isnt into the RP aspect of the
game.so if the nasty tells and swearing continue, id definately do the
/report option and petition...Good luck
I know he SEEMS rude, but look at the wonderful stuff he gave you!
In fact, I would tell every zone what a nice guy he was for giving you some
nice stuff.
Everytime I see his name I would thank him with a tell.
Sometimes, it is better to kill with kindness.

Heh, I've stumbled on people twinking THREE TIMES and kept them all without
a word said. I have also dropped items on the ground and twinked that way.
If I lost them, ehh big deal: You live by the sword, and you die by the
sword.

Pfft. Keep it. It's yours. No contest. If it's sitting on the ground,
it belongs to the first person who picks it up.

I of course transferred all of this stuff to my melee character in the
same fashion, which I have done numerous times, without ever losing
anything. I certainly wouldn't be at all upset with someone for picking
the stuff up had anyone ever done it to me, as I know that I am guilty of
the very same thing.

While wondering around Qeynos with my rogue (may he rest in peace) I found a
pile of loot in the water near the bank. I looked around, no one was
there. I picked it up. As I was examining it in my inventory (no major
loot, a little leather armor, a bow, mino axe, etc) up swims a PvP level 5
Erudite Paladin.
I could see his distress at the sight of his missing loot and while I could
have just hidden and gone Poof, I decided to ask him, "Was this your loot?"
"Yes, can I have it back?" he replied
"Sure" says I, at which point he drowned
I did a who on him and saw that he had respawned in Erudite. hmm, I have
two choices, bail with his stuff or give him a hand. Well, I have a soft
spot for aspiring paladins and he had not been rude, so I struck up a tell
with him, letting him know I would wait for his return.
To make a long story short... I ended up informing him of the horrors of
being PvP on a non-PvP server, helped him roll a new char, transferred the
stuff to his new char and gave him some extra loot on the side. (this was
back in the days where there was no known way to remove your PvP status)
He was a decent friendly player who I was pleased to assist, and I walked
away feel a good "boy-scout just helped a little ol lady across the street"
feeling.
Your Story:
If, as in your story, the person started out immediately being abusive or
was rude, then I would have told him he was SOL. Thems the breaks, I have
done the twink drop many times. If someone took something then I would
shrug and walk away. It's just a game.
His accusation of you following him invis has me wondering... either he is
_really_ paranoid or he has been doing that himself to others. Want to bet
which is most likely (here is a hint - both!)
If I were you, I would have no regrets...

I'm a believer in the fact that people will generally assume
that everyone behaves the way they do. If he's accusing you of being
Invis and following him around, I'd bet good money that he got the
idea and did it himself a time or two.

I have been trying to get the SBS for a while now, after losing mine while looting my body. I was raiding my body and re-equipping all the stuff in my slots, and then just right clicking on stuff that should go back into my main inventory slots. Well, I picked up stuff that was not in bags first, and it quickly filled up my slots...when I right clicked on my SBS (I was just right clicking away), it didn't make the "equip noise" and I started looking around on the ground. No message, and I also lost a full bag of stuff and my AC heavy leather apron this way. It didn't fall through the floor as far as I could tell, and there was not message of things falling to the ground, they just disappeared. Anyway, that is a lot of back story that you all probably don't need to hear (sorry).
Anyway, I'm camping for SBS only 1 or 2 kills per day (sometimes up to 5). I'm taking my turn and all sorts of stuff, but I had killed him 19 times and never came up with it (yea, I suck at blackjack too). So I FINALLY killed him for the 20th time, and click on him. OMG! He has it. Now I had been cleaning the hill of cents too, so I had some CB belts and cloth stuff to give to the newbies. I didn't realize that my inventory was full, and I right clicked on the shield (stupid, I know, especially after I had lost it this way before, but I was excited and got carried away). Well, this time I get the message "inventory is full, etc." and I'm like, "Oh Crap!" Well I look down and see just the corner of it under my feet. I start to back up to see it and it DISAPPEARS! ARRRGGG! NO! I think it fell through the clip plane...I'm clicking frantically all over the place trying to pick it up when a TRADE screen opens and someone is offering the SBS to me...sigh...thank GOD! Someone had picked it up when it dropped and was KIND ENOUGH to return it to me. Don't remember their name, but whomever it was, thank you so much. They could have kept it. But I'm glad that they weren't playing by "finder's keeper's" rules.
I know that your situation seems a little different, but I try and play fair. He definately screwed himself by cursing at you and acting like a lunatic and probably doesn't deserve to have his stuff returned because he seems to be the type of person who would steal it from you without a second thought if the situation were reversed. Anyway, I don't think he will be able to train that much stuff on you and you should be fine. Keep your log around so that you can show a Guide if he starts bugging you too much and does really cause you problems, but I wouldn't give his stuff back. Up to you and your character if you should use the stuff, sell it, or destroy it...

He's just being intentionally hard headed and stubborn, not because it
actually matters, but simply because he feels like copping a permanent
attitude.
Recently this happened to a friend of mine. She was transfering stuff from her
character to her son's. And by accident dropped a box when she clicked on him.
A box full of crafted armor. Someone snatched it and ran off. She asked for
it back nicely and he said in effect Screw off its mine now. So she sent me a
tell and she was very upset. She earned that crafted and it was for her son.
Now some loser has it. I sent him a tell and asked him nicely to return. Of
course he wouldnt because he's like all the other people who said "keep it."
Basically you're saying Fuck off to you and all your hours of camping/trading
to get that stuff.
Well now this person who took my friends stuff has a marked name. He will
either end up returning the stuff or changing his name. Druids in my guild are
never more than 5 mins away from him at all times. I suspect he will see the
error in his ways.

also given me a couple pieces of armor.
As for your situation, I feel that if he did not ask for it politely with
understanding that a mistake had been made. Then he is not a gentleman enough
to have rightfully earned the goods to begin with. I may be a Barbarian, but i
still understand the importance of Chivalry.
I suggest you take the backpack and give it to a wandering critter. They will
take it. Then whoever kills it gets the goods. It works, I have tried it.
You can then tell him what you have done and he can spend the next several
nights killing every polarbear cub in everfrost trying to find it.
No gain on your part in this case is the right thing to do. You did not
rightfully earn the goods. And he does not deserve them.
Good Luck
