NO!
You make the basic, undyed Fine Plate armor, and THEN,
in a separate operation, you dye it. And to answer the
original question, yes, once you dye it, you can not
dye it again.
Yeah, as he said. Anyone you trust can take your armor and put it in a
forge with the dye to make it dyed even if you've been wearing it for
a year. if they fail only the ingredients are gone (not the armor)
You might want to reconsider dying it at all though. It was kinda cool
at first before all the velious texture armor was out but now its not
worth the pain. The plain fine steel regular old armor texture is
kinda clean and a nice look on many races all by itself. If you do
really want it dyed.. go for cheap colors like blue which are really
prevelent. Green is a nice look but rare so might cost you and arm and
a leg, same is true of black i think.

I bought a small fine plate chestpiece for 200pp last October. I then
ran to Halas to have a shaman smith dye it black for me; he charged
150pp for the dye job and told me he would probably charge 200pp for
black dye later. I was in a splurge mood (It was my birthday and I was
depressed) so I went ahead with the dye and was deeply disappointed
when it turned out grey, a shade lighter than charred BP on my wood
elf warrior :)
