LOL I'm glad I'm not alone in this. I'm going to see it again tonight and
will likely break a record before it goes bye bye. I guess I'll be first in
line when the video comes out! Was looking for pics of him online last night
so I could set it as wallpaper... this, from a woman who turns the monitor

Bah! If you can hold at least a semi-intelligent
conversations with the other party, then they are
fair game.

> DONKEY SHOW!

Yee-hah!, or Baaa! Wouldn't qualify, of course.
But both in Tolkien's work, and in Everquest,
elves and humans work out just fine. Hell, in
EQ, any race can marry any other. I can't wait
to see our my Barbarian-Troll babies turn out.

Annie <--- Had to settle for very semi-intelligent,
in fact.

Just got back from my 3rd viewing of LOTR. I'm going with a girlfriend again
tomorrow night. She can't get enough of Strider/Aragorn and I can't get
enough lof Legolas, so we figured we'd go together and giggle mindlessly
(like I haven't done in 30 years) Gods, this movie has brought out the worst

Or maybe the best.

'Course it does. And that LotR test says I'm Arwen...

Frodo's gorgeous, but I think his height is working against him.

I need to find the time to go for a third screening. And reread LotR
and Silmarillion and Unfinished Tales.

Yes, Frodo IS gorgeous, even as short as he is. I'm not much taller, at
5'3"! Arwen is gorgeous as well, if I had to be someone in the movie, it
would definitely be her! Nice job on the test ;) Well, my sisrer in law went
to the matinee this afternoon (it made her fourth time, she's in lust with
Strider), and we're both going again tonight, which will make five times for
us both. I'm closing on Sue Darling pretty fast here. They said it was going
bye bye on Friday, so I'll likely see it again another time or three. I
bought the series again myself, but I've been so busy going to the movie
that I've barely started on the book :) I'll have time when it goes away. I
just keep repeating that mantra to myself.

The sad thing about The Simarillion is, I bought the book on tape version,
the complete unabridged version. I played it while driving cross country,
got the tapes mixed up, I think somewhere around tape 10 or 11, swapped two
of them. I didn't notice my mistake until much later. It seemed a bit
confusing for a moment when I put the wrong tape in, but not for very long.
I had read the book a very long time before. I don't see myself ever
reading it again, it just did not do much for me. OTOH, I am rereading The
Hobbit, and Lord of the Rings for the 8th time or so.

Wow! I prefer the Silmarillion over the LoTR. That's because the stories
of the early Ages just seem so much more epic and tragic than those of
the Third Age, or even the Second. Not to mention that the Firstborn
have always been my favorite. Or maybe I'm just a masochist.

Imagine a movie of the story of Beren and Luthien. Or a movie of the
story of Turin.

Christopher Tolkien has the rights to any Silmarillion movies and is
hoarding them like a dragon, though.

There aren't used book stores around here, at least not any good ones.
So, isn't it nice that I already have well-read (and well-handled, so
they're not falling to pieces) copies of ALL aforementioned books?

What the hell is Shardik?

That's because in my infinite wisdom, I reread that one during my
extensive bus trips for New Year's and last week's job interview.

Ok, you can all just tune me out... I'm going to go see it again tomorrow
(ehh, today, looking at watch) at a matinee. Makes 8 times. And I still keep
wondering --- if the part that Legolas plays in the first book is so small,
will it be enhanced in the 2nd? It seems so, from what I've read, but then,
Peter Jackson has his own dream to follow. Oh, ok, just kill me now with his
own bow and arrows!!!

then,

In part two only half of the book is about the rest of the fellowship, the
other half is about frodo and sam. And Legolas's role in the whole thing
just gets smaller and smaller. Apart from a great deal of running and a body
count contest with Gimli, there's isn't much action for old lego is this
one, me thinks. Then again, only a fool would cut down on 'bloom' screen

Damn. Well, my hopes are dashed again! Just got back from seeing it again...
think that makes my 8th time, and was seriously considering investing in yet
another enjoyable evening tonight of watching Legolas dancing across the
silver screen, bow in hand and blonde hair flying. I just love watching his
shoot that bow ;)

Um...you might want to check out the picture of the actor who played
Legolas in the movie (can't remember his name) in this month's Us
magazine (my wife subscribes). Then again, if you want to maintain
your fantasy regarding his fair and handsome elven appearance, maybe
you shouldn't.

Hint: it doesn't mention that he played Legolas in the picture's
caption, just that he was in LoTR. However, after a bit of scrutiny,
it's pretty obvious which character he was.
