What exactly does the 'hide' skill do? Can enemies see you if you move?
Thx!

If the hide is successful (it's checked against your skill) you are hidden from
all monsters that would be fooled by the Invisibility spell as long as you
remain still. Undead, some animals and giants will still see you. Rogues have
the ability to move while hidden however, and their hide is also effective
against undead.

From external view you will always appear hidden, the only way to be sure if you
succeeded is to target a normally aggressive mob and /con it, if the result is
now indifferent you are hidden.

It's good for resting, medding, or practicing skills like tailoring. It
keeps monsters and characters from seeing you.(Most of the time if
you're good at it.)

Hide makes you invis to most living critters on any of the 3 original
continents. On Kunark? I don't know but it SEEMS as though every freaking
creature sees through invis (and I would assume hide) there.

Wrong.

Hide = invis except you cannot move.

Sneak lowers the aggro radius of creatures, especially from behind,
and makes you indifferent outside this radius. This way you can sneak
up behind a merchant and buy/sell stuff. Sneak will also enable you
to hide while moving.

Actually Hide does invis you from monsters--even monsters that would
otherwise see through invis.

I found out that a successful hide works in Hate--everything around me
were conning indifferent. Good thing since I went AFK and when I came
back the entire SW corner was wiped out. I had hit Hide before going
AFK, I came back to a bunch of corpses and a fully respawned corner.

Needless to say, I was scared pissless and chose not to move until
everyone recovered their corpses and rebroke the corner.

But I am still attacked by pumas, when I am sitting with hide and sneak on
:)

The trick to hide is that you only hide some of the time. If
you go into third person view, you will look to yourself
like you are hidden, but you may not actually be hidden.

The easiest way to solve this is to target a mob that is normally
something other than indifferent. Hit hide. If you are
successful at hiding, that mob will con indifferent.

Sneak is pretty easy to determine also. Start running and hit
sneak. If you are successful, you're speed will drop in half.

If you are a rogue, life is easy, since you get a message when
the skills work. Other classes can use the tricks above.

My level 8 rogue, when coupling hide+sneek, was able to walk right past
anything in my way. All of which con'ed red to me. It is my understanding
that this is = to invisibility with the exeption you can actually loot
without breaking it.

You cannot loot without breaking hide.

It is equal to Invisibility in that See Invisible will allow creatures / PCs
to see you.

Looting breaks Hide instantly, but it *doesn't* pop the button. You are no
longer hidden. Same thing applies for stripping your corpse. You can drag
your corpse without breaking Hide, but you cannot strip it.

Hide / Sneak combo works for anyone who has both skills. However, Rogues
get the bonus of a message saying when the skills work.

Halflings have both skills, but don't get the messages and can never
increase the skills. Thus, it's harder for a non-Rogue Halfling to invoke
the combo. It can be done, however. My L5 Druid went to HH. I did Sneak
until I was moving slowly (the proof that it was working), then I did Hide
until an Orc in view was Indifferent (the proof that Hide was working).
After that, I was able to slowly creep through HH to the Keep.

Hide / Sneak will make many creatures ignore you. However, it won't work
against higher-level Undead, some lower-level Undead, and many non-animal
monsters. My L18 Rogue has used Hide to look directly up at a Griffin,
because it will ignore me. However, Hill Giants have always (so far) seen
through it, so I stay well away from them. I also run from Deadly Black
Widows and Vampire Bats, because both will attack me on sight, whether or
not I'm using H/S.
