Plains Pebble (looks like a blue gem)

It is a new foraged item in the karanas. I foraged one in north
and south karana. It is no drop but not lore, not stackable.

Must be for a quest. does anyone know?

Well, if it's no drop, I sure do hope it's either a druid, bard, or wood elf
quest (I think that covers everyone who can forage).

I dunno, but i foraged 4 of them in a short period of time, so if it
is part of a quest, its not the hard part. Then again i have a forage
skill of 199 and the quest reqard may be only any good for a lvl 19 or
nearby (you only start foraging location specific items after 100
skill in foraging). Either that or verant messed up on the drop rate
of the plains pebble (looks like a saphire) and you might want to
forage loads before they "fix" it :).

Comes out the south end of a north bound Gnoll?
(just a guess :)

Maybe they changed it, but when I was still playing my level 20 Druid last
year, I could forage area-specific items, and my forage was at most 50 ...
hmmm, will have to log back on and check now ; )

Its probably like every other foraged item, useful for brewing perhaps
(don't know how) and fetches a couple gold at a vendor.

Plains pebbles are no drop, nonstackable items. So they must be for a quest. I
would love to know which one myself.

So would I, the damn things are taking over my inventory.

Just destory all except for four--you can't turn in more than four
items to an NPC so even at worst, you can complete one part of the
quest with these damn smurf dropping.

Not necessarily true. There are plenty quests that require you to fill a container
(4+) of things. This, being no drop but not lore, is probably one of those.

Current theory on these smurf droppings on the Druid board is that
they are a spell reagent--Wake Of Karana (an AE damage spell) whose
reagent at this point is not known.

Of course, this wouldn't explain rangers & bards foraging these
items...

Also reagent generally are stackable unless they're coffins or something. Now a reagent
for a teleport just like the planes to tp to Kunark would make some sense. But for a
spell? Nah it should be stackable

Druids already have a spell which requires them to just have one spider eye or
something like that. The reagent doesn't get used up, you just have to have it
on you to cast the spell.

bizbee is referring to fire beetle eye, which is a component for the flame
lick series (small DOT+debuff, inc immolate).

Nah. It's far too pretty to be, uh, gnoll generated.
