I am assuming the skill max for fishing is 200, if not, assume my question
means the highest skill for fishing.

I just recently started fishing, and got my skill to (9), and i seem to catch
something 1 out of every 5-10 casts. Im curious, i caught rusty daggers, fish,
somethin called timorous tuna, not worth much, but cool to get for free.

My question is, what kind of things do you catch if your skill is the highest u
can get in fishing? Thanx

I'd say don't even put 1 practice point into fishing. Increase your skill
from 0 to 100 doing nothing but making hooks, lures, and other "baiting"
materials. After skill 100. My reason for saying this is because after
increasing your first 100 points in this way, you can truly say you are a
"master" at being a "baiter". :)
This would personally be my most fun reason to reach fishing skill 100. For
the title you'd be able to give yourself (a 100 skill in fletching is a
"master Fletcher", 100 in baking is a "master baker", 100 in tailoring is a
"master tailor", a 100 skill in baiting hooks is a...).

Fishing is level capped, so you cannot get higher than 5*level.

But if you are a master fisherman (i.e. over 100), there are certain
items that you can catch in various places in the world. Most of these
items are used for tradeskills and are no drop, like that seaweed caught
in OOT. But there are rumors that you can catch gems and other expensive
items by fishing at high levels.

So far there is no difference between catching with specific baits, but
it's nice to know you can play with a tacklebox and make your own lures.

from a post on my guild board:

Like foraging, fishing only counts if it's 101 or better, before then
you can't get rares (like the Seaweed for Sea Tempers, or the Cobalt
Cods for Cod Oil, or the Iceclad Cutlassfish for the Shawl quest). For
those that don't know, normal races need 101 or better foraging to
forage rares (like Oak Bark and Drake Eggs), except for Iksar who can
all forage, have 50 skill that never goes up and can always forage rares
(though they fail to get anything at all lost of times, due to low
skill).

So not just a "master" at being a "baiter", a "grand master" "baiter". :)

Infact if you are a forager, you should be able to do a quest in east
freeport to net you a free pole and then forage all the free bait you
should need.
