If I /con my pet, it says that it scowls at me, ready to attack. This
doesn't seem right at all.
The pet attacks enemies that view me indifferently. This means they won't
be indifferent for long, and will turn aggressive towards me. Sometimes I
don't want this.
The worst problem: my pet will go and attack something I have no chance of
beating, and get me killed.
It also seems to have a problem following me up certain hills, and goes off
on its own often. /pet follow is only moderately effective. /pet guard has
it attack everything, including what I don't want it to, and the pet ends up
leading ME around because it is chasing monsters all over the place. I
can't even find the corpses of some of the monsters my pet kills.
I also can't send my pet to attack an enemy while I attack another. As soon
as I start attacking something, my pet will drop what it is doing and attack
what I'm attacking. This isn't always what I want.
Does anyone have any tips to keep my pet near me, under control, and not
running all over the place and bring back monsters that can slaughter me?
I've tried /pet back off, followed by /pet follow, is this the best method?
I also find it tough to keep my pet in hearing range so it will listen to
what I say. I wish I could yell for it to heel or something.
It is frustrating to know your pet is somewhere in the area, but not be able
to find it, especially near cliffs and hills (they scale those 90% grade
cliffs and you can't see them b/c they are 300 feet in the air). I also
don't like it when I hear it attack something I'd really like to kill and
loot, but then it comes back to me, having killed the monster, and I have no
idea where the corpse is.
I know /pet commands are under the microscope at Verant, but until they, any
advice? Thanks.
I'll try what you said and not say anything to my pet at all except /attack,
but I remember an instance where I summoned a pet and it immediately floated
out of sight.
Thanks again.
Nick
Strategy for area with harder monster is to just tell your pet to follow.
And pet will attack automatically when monsters attack you. Also, pet does
not attack monsters first in this mode. However, monster can attack your
pet and pet will react. If you are in a group, then attack command must be
used if monsters don't hit you.
